There's never a "good" way to breakup with someone. Though there's lots of ways to feed them some sugar before the medicine goes down.
IMO the only time you can breakup with someone and still be friends with them is when you're really just friends in the first place and never cared for each other beyond that.

Yes its as good as it gets when its obvious, when you don't leave the other person feeling undesireable and worthless, timing is a lot of it but mostly its about leaving them with their dignity intact and not feeling like the scum of the earth. Yes you can be friends but not until after all the dust has settled from the romantic relationship and break up, if one still has feelings for the other it will get sticky eventually.

No but there is smooth ways of doing it one of which is the lets remain friends route which eventually one or the other just kinda fades away over time. The friendships rarely last very long after its all said and done.

Most the time, No. My ex. wife, of 3 years and I are the best of friends as much as ex's can be. With dating, marriage, we've been together 4 1/2 years. Divorced 9 years. We are not friends because of our 2 kids ether. Don't stay where you don't want to be, who knows, y'all might stay friends for a long, long time. Good luck!!
