I kept getting sick at work. I would feel like I was going to throw up alot.My legs would feel like they were going to give in and I might fall.I could not think straight, I was forgetting things, drawing blanks when asked a question.I was limping alot because my right leg was hurting beside my knee on a vein that bulging out.I went to the doctor and then to a vein specialist who said I had abnormal blood flow.My oneway valves were not closing and the blood was pooling back down in my legs.I had surgery on both legs thinking I would be ok within 6 weeks.I am not ok.My legs hurt all the time.Standing or sitting , I cannot do either for very long.Sometimes my legs feel like they are not attached to my body.I have trouble getting to sleep, I have to keep moving proping them unproping them.I finally go to sleep when I am so exhausted that I finally go to sleep anyway.I need to go back to work but don't know what kind of work I can commit to.I stay sick alot still.

Excellent question: That's why I'm called the "DisabilityLady"! My eligibility criteria for this answer:

1) I was an HR Executive for over 30 years; I've been successfully managing Multiple Sclerosis for over 45 years.

2) I was approved for SSDI the first time around in under 30 days; I was approved for, and worked with LTD.

3) My passion and mission are to assist people with disabilities qualify for and acquire the resources they need to successfully become Expert Patients, and chronic disease self-managers. Toward that end, I created a website dedicated to assisting people with disabilities. It contains tons of info; 2 blogs; free downloadable ebooklets; and a small priced 100 page How To with specific examples and documents Disability Workbook: http://www.disabilitykey.com

4) I have been, and am, assisting hundreds of people with disabilities worldwide.

Now, to answer your question.

First of all, and most importantly, the criteria for ANY AND ALL disabilitly insurances - SSA, SSDI, AND/OR LTD are NOT your symptoms!! This is the mistake most folks make. Here's the criteria:

Do your symptoms impair your NORMAL DAILY LIVING ACTIVITIES - both at home and at work - to such a degree that you are not able to perform any "gainful employment" for which your age, education, and prior work history can equip you to perform, that can earn you at least the minimum of $830/month as of 2006!!

AND, the documentation of this symptom impairment, and the corroboration of that documentation by doctor chart notes and letters, is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY, IF YOU WANT APPROVAL!! If you leave the collection of the documentation and corroboration to others, your chances of approval are greatly decreased.

Social Security itself states that:

1) 60% or more cases are denied the first time around.

2) 80% are denied during the appeal process.

3) If you are at first denied, the process can take up to 4 years to go through the entire process.

So, if you want assistance, please check out my website. You may also contact me by clicking onto my disabilitylady name here through Yahoo.

Best of luck!!!

Yes. If your Doctor finds that there is something wrong, then yes you can get disability. However, sometimes it can be a long process. My dad has been trying to receive disability for 4yrs now, and still hasn't received any. You may have to fight! Get good lawyers. And you may receive back pay, depending on how long the processing took. Good luck.

not sure, If your doctor says you cant work and you take that to the SS office you maybe able to get it.
Even if its just short term.

I have faught with SS for a long time, I have epilepsy, I have a bad memory, problems staying focused, concentrating, i get distracted easy, I have space outs, grandmal seizures, and all kinds of other problems.
and i still cant get disability.

So good luck.

you need to ask your doctor if he thinks you can work. if he doesn't think you can then you should probably apply. make sure you have all your records.

or.. call your local social security office or department of human services and ask about vocational rehabilitation. if you feel like you can work in some way.. they may be able to help you.

I don't know about disability, but it might be worth asking your doctor if you may have restless legs syndrome. Although its not necessarily curable, if that's what it is, there are medications that might help.

Good luck.

FIRST AND FOREMOST, SEE A DOC., RECEIVING MONIES SHOULD BE SECONDARY. FIND OUT WHAT IS WRONG AND FOLLOW THROUGH. SEEMS TO ME, THE SS $ IS WHAT IS MOTIVATING YOU.
