Also the kittens are 5 weeks old. I have raised 3 other litters and always started them at 5 weeks and never had a problem. But this litter seems to be harder. They will be 6 weeks on 8/7/06. I have the litter box in a bathroom. But they are still nursing off the momma every 3 hours or more. I am also in the process of trying to switch them to kitten food.

I know that cats hate vinegar I will be spraying me bed with it today when i pull the sheets and wash them with bleach and a little bit of vinegar also. I ended up at 5am this morning when one ended up peeing right beside my husband locking them and mommy up in my half bathroom. They have food water litter box and a blanket to sleep on. So I am hoping this will work. They are used to curling up to me at night for bed which I love but cant have anymore since they are going on the bed and I am almost 37 weeks pregnant.

That sucks. I like everyones answers. Confine them to bathroom. They'll need more then a few times practice I imagine. Don't let them in your bedroom for a while if possible. Or moving kitty litter box closer to where they sleep. I always put litter box right next to the box they were born in and they take one step out of the box and the litter box is like 10 steps away! Look for special sprays to get rid of smells from animals doing there business and spray your mattress down and get new sheets and do not let them near your bed for as long as possible. The bathroom trick should get them really comfortable with using a litter box and then from then on keep it nice and clean for them. Praise them for using the litter box and PUT THEIR MISTAKES (FECES) IN LITTER BOX AND THAT WILL HELP THEM FIGURE IT OUT!
good luck

So are they peeing on the bed, or eating the litter? If they are peeing on your bed, it's time to make your bedroom non-accessable. Once their smell is there, thats their comfort spot, and only you can deter that. I would start confining them to a smaller area, such as a bathroom (with good air circulation cuz litter can cause dust) or a small guest room with out a bed. Also try out some different litter brands. It may be as simple as they don't like the feel of the litter. Scoop away litter is a soft litter, and there are some paper type litters as well. You need to either get rid of what they've peed on, or super wash it do get rid of the odors they've left you. For the time being , i would get some type of tarp or plastic sheet to put over the bed, so that your things don't get ruined. Also consider purchasing a mattress sheet ( thats made for kids who pee the bed and whatnot ) so that your mattress itself doesn't get ruined. Also consider putting some toys where they pee on the bed, or a basket or some objects ( like perhaps their nesting area ) where they pee. Good Luck!

the purely element which will artwork is time. that's a delusion that kittens are waiting to leave domicile at 6 weeks, so as it is an unreasonable expectation. each and each and every weans and matures at their own price, and there extremely isn't something you may do to % up the technique. What you may do is get your self slightly one gate or 2, and placed that up on the bathroom door so as that the adults can see the kittens. it ought to help fairly. be effective also to apply a clay muddle for the kittens - the non clumping style it is accessible contained in the tremendous bags. Clay muddle can type blockages of their intestines in the adventure that they devour adequate of it. And with slightly of luck mom is spayed - elevating kittens isn't an straight forward job, and actual you do not choose more effective litters.

You may have to put them in a room (like the bathroom) with only the litter box for a day or so.
Do not let them on your bed. They will keep going back to that smell. Clean or dispose of the sheets, etc... to get rid of the odor that is attracting them back there. They think your bed is the litter box.
When they have gone in the litter box for a few times, then you can let them out supervised.

I had the same problem with my kitten, he used to pee anywhere but in his litter box (he prefer behind my piano or on the couch).
So I did what the vet told me to do.
I put him in the kitchen, when he got all he needs (food, water, litter bow, some toys and a place to sleep). I spend some time with him in the kitchen, but during 10 days he wasn't allow to go out. So he learnt to use his litter bow that way.
After that, he was allow to go in other rooms, but only if I can watch him. and each time he try to pee somewhere, I said 'no' and put him in the kitchen again.
Now, he use his litter bow, and that's a great relief for me !
An advice : cats don't like vinegar, so you could wash the floor with vinegar in your room, so he won't get in again. And cats like javel water, so put a few drops of it in the litter box to invite him to pee in it.
good luck !

Kittens will use a litter box more readily if the smell of their urine or feces is there. It's like they smell it, and realize, "Oh, this is where I'm supposed to go."
Next time one of them makes a mess, try to put some of their feces or urine into the litter box, and let them smell it.
Can they get into the litter box on their own?
Another trick worth trying is to put the box close to your bed (gross, I know) and then gradually move it.
Do they have a mommy cat around to teach them? If not, they might be thinking of you as 'mom' and going to the bathroom around you.
