I am an MP, currently in Iraq. You have to be able to receive a security clearance, but talk to your recruiter about that. It is an easy job to get other than that, because the army needs MP's. You will be deployed, get that in your mind right now, its what we do. MP's do everythign from traffic enforcement, area security, convoy security and epw duties. The training is tough, but fun. You learn close quarters combat, learn tactical driving and combat driving. But remember, you will be deployed, but after MP school you will be prepared to do your job. The only thing that sucks is going to FT Leonard Wood in Missouri. We call it fort lost in the woods. There is nothing around it and the winters can be rough. MP's, Of the troops and for the troops.

I think it's pretty easy to be an MP, you probably just need to pass the ASVAB test that the military gives to everyone who wants to enlist. Plus they could always use more MP's as well, so I think you'd be able to get in and become one.
Best bet is simply to talk to a recruiter, and tell them you want to join and become an MP. They'll tell you the rest.
MP's do police stuff like in the civilian world, but they also handle riot situations, convoy escorts (they're the ones in the humvees with big machine guns on top usually when you see a lot of army vehicles going by on the news). Again, ask a recruiter, and they can fill you in. Good luck.

Unfortunately there is not so much occupational switch for a tanker in civilian existence. You are both a driving force, loader, gunner or tank commander. But when you labored as an armor repairman, you might end up a good deisel mechanic, or hydraulic professional. But detect this: in a tank, you're a goal. A BIG goal. However, as an MP, you possibly can effortlessly transition to end up a police officer or state trooper. You are nonetheless a goal, however a way smaller one. But there are nonetheless many MOS within the Army that train a individual a talent that they may be able to use in civilian existence as good. It all depends upon what you desire and what you qualify for. Speak with a recruiter and notice what's to be had for MOS. They will likely be greater than glad to aid you.

I was an MP in the USMC. It is not a hard MOS to get. You will have to be able to get a security clearance. We trained with the Army at the school at Ft. Leo Wood, and yes, it gets really cold there. Good MOS. It will probably be more than you think it is in terms of the type of training you will recieve. The posts above spell it out pretty well, so I won't rehash all that they included. Good luck.

Served four years as an M.P. and no. I wouldn't consider it a hard MOS to get into. You should be able to join as an M.P. before you enlist. Meaning you go to basic training than straight to AIT (Advanced Individual Training). A few things you need to know is that it's not all patrol duty. The Military Police have combat and physical security missions that you will also fill, depending upon where you are stationed. All in all it's not a bad MOS. I enjoyed the duty and was proud to have served.

just get your recruiter to put it in your contract and then you will be an MP.
It's not Rocket Sugary you learn a few basics of law enforcement and you will mainly focus on tactical combat training.
