Hes sweet, funny, awesome, protective, and he knows just what to say or do to make me smile! But im 14 and hes 17 does that really matter!? is he the one?

It matters a lot. He's about to be an adult while you're still underage.
Consider your thoughts and realize how much you've been brainwashed by our culture. Teenagers, especially fourteen year olds, should not be thinking about the right person. Do you know what it means to be the right one? If so, then you have a long time before you get married. Are you sure that you will still want to be with him after a few years? You're growing up and the ideals that you are looking for in a boyfriend might change.
Also, he's growing up and probably has some other intentions in mind.
There is more to loving someone than describing them as sweet, funny, awesome, protective.
As far as some of the other responses that you're getting, the people who are telling you that he is the right one are either young like yourself or have watched one too many chick flicks. Love doesn't come that easily. Sorry, but life is not Hollywood.
As a youth, I know it is easy to have lots of optimism, and that's fine. Optimism keeps you going through those hard times as an adolescent, but when you get older, then you will see that the world isn't entirely glamorous.

WELL...........................This is going to be hard cause u beeing 14 and him beening 17 first does your mom &dad know? Now you are young i know u hear that a lot i was in your shoes i was 16 and she was 19 my mom did not like it but she was like if you are happy (sigh) i am ok with it but if she hurt my baby well u get the point but i know u don't won't to hear this but talk to your folks and if they say no ask him can he wait 3-4 year if he say's yes then u have a good man but if he goes (uhh man and i don't know) Then becareful cause your heart can do some carzy things ONE!!!!!

the word "protective" is concerning. That is often a nice way to describe controlling behavior. A 17yr olds interest in a 14 yr old would certainly make me believe that his intentions may not be the most pure. Be careful.

at 17 can he keep his hands to himself if so he may be just let him know when and where things stop because your to young to make a commitement in life

well......i don't know if he's the one or not for u sweety .....only time will tell......so enjoy each other's company but don't get into the sexual intimacy yet......u've got light years ahead for that.......take it slow and easy and don't worry abt the serious stuff right now.....enjoy being 14 !
