Oddly enough the biggest fights with my parents occurred after I grew up and moved out. Before that they pretty much got there way - their house, their rules. Unfortunately after I moved out they were still trying to get their way on everything.

The best example occured a few weeks after I moved out. I had to much to drink at a friend's house so I stayed over. The next day I learned that my parents had called my apartment and I wasn't there. So they called in another half hour, and another, and another....they stayed up all night calling. They were furious and demanded that I call them when I wasn't going to return to MY OWN APARTMENT for the night.

Well you can imagine the crazy argument we had over that. I was very firm about not calling and there wasn't really anything they could do but boy were they mad. Now 20 years later I still get "Where were you when I called?" when they can't find me. Once in a while I respond with "Why do you need to know" but mostly I just tell them to keep peace.

Sorry to rain on your parade - but it really doesn't get better. In fact, parents tend to get more extreme when they enter old age - at least in my family.

They are poor losers and I made some sort of success that can be seen very clearly as besting them but they won't come out of their denial even as I and everyone they know tell them implicitly that they did not make that much out of life
They think they r complete and they say that I look down on them when I'm only being realistic and saying what anyone would have said with no reason to be biased
I respect them but I hate lying and detest denial. We live in this very ugly society, u see I didn't tell u where I'm from, and lying only makes things uglier
