I just realized that there is a connection. They are all related where does the Muslim relgion differ from christianity? At what point does it diverge and at what point is it the same? Perhaps I am confused, but I think there are some books or people in common to all 3?

Please no bashing on me this is just an information question to broaden my world view. I am just trying to be educated.

Any links would be appreciated for comparrison or contrast. I am not in school just a student of live trying to understand the world.

I never have any jewish people bash on questions or muslim people. I wonder why christians always bash on others? It is really embarassing since I was raised in that faith.

Very simple what prophet do you believe: Moses, Jesus, Muhammad. Let me take them in reverse order.

If you examine the Qur'an, you will see Jesus (Isa) discussed in nine chapters. Some of the statements are in contradict the four gospels. So is Muhammad right? Or are the gospels right. Which prophets do you believe?

If you examine the New Testament, you will find the Jew Jesus as the Jewish Messiah; however, any Talmud student will eagerly point out the many Messianic things that Jesus failed to do. Are the Christian right or are the Holy Scriptures correct. Which prophets do you believe?

You can find many sites, pro and con; however, it all comes down to which prophets do you believe.

I think all three religions accept pretty much the Old Testament (such as Genesis, Moses, David, etc).

Muslims from what I understand don't believe Jesus was the Messiah, rather he was merely another prophet in a long line of prophets God (or Allah, as he's known to Muslims). While they do consider Jesus to be special, they don't believe in him the same way Christians do. Muslims believe that Christians have an imperfect teaching from God, and that supposedly God sent some messages/teachings to Mohammed to help guide humanity once again back to God.

They believe Mohammed was the last such prophet, and after him no more are to be sent to people. They have what's called the 5 pillars of faith (or something like that), which are core values they're supposed to follow and believe in. Their faith is called Islam, and their holy book is the Koran (sometimes spelled Quran too, both are accepted English spellings).

Beyond this, you should probably google or look it up on wikipedia for some more general info.

-In Islam, Jesus is acknowledged as just a prophet, whereas in Christianity, he is part of the Trinity (i.e. He is the son of God, but also God Himself, and the Holy Spirit; but at the same time, He is not the son of God, nor God, nor the Holy Spirit).
-Islam and Christianity have the same prophets (but some stories of the prophets are a little different: e.g. in Christianity, Abraham was about to sacrifice Isaac, and not Ishmael)
-Islam acknowledges the Torah, the Psalms, the Gospel (not the Bible), as being sent by God just as the Qur'an is, but Christianity doesn't acknowledge anything in Islam.
-In Islam, there will be christian, jews, and other people who have worshipped God that will be admitted into Heaven. but in Christianity, everyone else goes to Hell, even if you worshipped God, because to them, you have to acknowledge that Jesus died for the sins of mankind.

So basically, the main difference between Christianity and Islam is that Muslims don't believe that God has a son. They believe He is far above such imperfections, no matter how great or pious of a person Jesus was. Plus, God is the one who forgives, and He is the most Merciful of the Merciful, so why does He have to sacrifice a son to save mankind when He is called 'The Pardoner', 'The Most Forgiving' 'The Lord of Mercy' 'The Giver of Mercy' 'The Acceptor of Repentance'...

Well you will get different answers from Christians than you will from Muslims. Muslims believe that Islam builds onto Christianity like Christianity does to Judaism, but this is not so. They believe that Jesus was a prophet and not the Son of God, so there is no way their prophet Mohammed "built onto" or improved anything. What he actually did was steal beliefs and ideas of the major religions at the time he was living and put some things together to make his new religion....he named it Islam....it's all a bunch of rubbish and I am putting it as honestly and politely as I can.

I've asked this before as well, and went to the respective religions to find out (as I am a non-biased Buddhist).

Judism- They follow the old testament from genesis and the world's creation, through Abraham, through Moses, etc...

Christianity- They follow the old testament and the new testiment that lables Jesus as a the son of god and messiah...

Islam (the foundation of Muslim beliefs)- About 500 years after Jesus, Mohammed organizes this religion, and has a journey and teaches lessons, just like Jesus.

The three are like one big story, it's just a matter of how much you want to read. Jews love god, Abraham, and Moses but don't believe that god sent down a messiah, yet. Christians love god, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus. Islam follows god, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and belive that Mohammed is the messiah.

Each religion tacks on a few chapters to their version of the story.

Prophet Mohammed had got the word of God through Gabriel 600 years after Jesus left the world. This revelation is Quran.
Quran unites all religion which were before and which became separated, branched and misinterpretered by people.
Mohammed is the last prophet from God.
Quran does not deny what Tourah or Bible said. It is CORRECTING and showing the right way. We should consider this revelation as the LAST word and the LAST warning. Whatever happened or will happen is mentioned in Quran.. After Quran was sent in arabic language people started to follow this Word of God, means they became muslims ( people who are submitted their will to God ( Allah in arabic)).
All phrophets from Moses till Jesus are respectable in Islam. Muslim can not be muslim if he does not beleive in prophets before Mohammed.

Islam is the completion of the Judeo-Christian religions. Jesus prophesized the coming of Prophet Muhammad. Islam is the last and final religon from the same God of Abraham and Moses.

Read the Qur'an to understand. Here is a good website:

Judaism and Islam have the same roots because Abraham had two sons. Isaac, his son by Sarah, who represented the Israelites and Ishmael, son of Hagar the slave woman, who became the father of the Islamic nation.

Christianity and Islam have similar roots since Islam does highly respect the teachings of Isa (Jesus) and regards Jesus a messenger and/or prophet. The similarity ends there because Islam believes in the Messenger send after Jesus, who is Muhammad.

Peace.

Judeism if the old testament. Chrisitanity is the new testament. Islam is the inspired teaching of Mohammed which follow the teachings of Jesus.
I see them as steps - Judiasm came first, then Christianity encompassed the same teachings added their own and moved forward, then Islam came encompassing the others and adding in their beliefs. One note - Islam sees Jesus as a prophet of God, so I personally see it as a continuation.
As for how they relate, you would have to read the Torah, The Bible and the Quaran and judge for yourself.

Sometimes you get really poor answers or contempt over here!

Holy books of all the 3 religions Bible, Torah, Quran have many of the same prophets stories.
The major difference in Islam and Christianity is aabout Christ's status. Muslims believe in Jesus as a prophet of God where as Christians believe in him as Son of God. Tales of Christ are narrated in Quran , Muslims revere Jesus Highly and is one of the beloved prophets!
