Catholics believe that God established the marriage bond in such a way that a marriage between baptized persons can never be dissolved.
Mark 10:9 states, "Therefore what God has joined together, no human being must separate."
And Matthew 19:6 says when two people marry "they are no longer two, but one flesh."
Tearing this one new intimately joined person into two is spiritually impossible.
Therefore the Catholic Church believes that God does not recognize civil divorces.
However the Church can investigate the situation. If it discovers that the parties were not truly joined by God and hence a full spiritual sacramental marriage as understood by the Church was not present then the Church can issue a declaration of nullity.
This is sometimes mistakenly called an "annulment."
Then parties are then free to marry for the first time.
With love in Christ.

It's not a sin for Catholics to get divorced.
Splitting up is no problem.
The problem is, the church believes that even though you've split up, without a declaration of nullity from the church, God still considers you to be a married couple.
Without an anulment, any future marriage, or any sexual activity at all, would be adulterous.
That's where the sin comes in.
The tons of Catholic (and other Christian) people who plainly ignore this, is ample evidence that Catholics really don't do everything the pope says they should, and that sex trumps religion just about every single time.
Go figure!

Christians are not allowed to get divorce by God because when they are married and they said their vows, that means that they are bonded by God and become the family of God. Things that is bonded by God must not be broken by human.
Well.. looks like there are still no 100% pure christians out there, rite?? -_- My myself don't believe in God though.

The divorce rate is actually higher among Christians. You just can't marry someone you don't love just for religious reasons.
