What was hard about the last war was that nobody would give the returning vets a break in understanding what it meant to be on your toes 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We were just supposed to act like it never happened, but watching your friends die cannot be forgotten that easily. So don't get mad that they get angry over seemingly nothing, ask them to open up because the more we talk about it, the easier it is to forget the pains and remember the heroics, we ourselves did.

Yep I sure do, lots of people actually. My husband has been there for a total of 2 1/2 yrs next month.
I do think its a good deal, its always good to know that there are people behind our soldiers. The news likes to publicize all the negative things going on there, but they never put the good things the men and women do. Maybe that would be a good idea. Get the word out the soldiers are there doing good things, not just the hooey you see in the news. Say for instance, my husbands last deployment there... there was a family who had no food or money. Their baby was literally starving, so the guys in his troop gathered all the extra money (out of their own pockets) and bought hundreds of dollars of food and baby formula for them.
Another, had a sister who needed heart surgery desperately or she would die. So the guys did the same thing again, only on a larger scale. Last I heard she was doing great.
When the UN was bombed, my husband was there. He pulled an Iraqi woman 3 month pregnant out of the rubble. She was trapped and severely injured. Not only did he save her, but her unborn baby. He was even awarded for that one, if no body believes that.
I know people want to believe the worst, because that stuff never makes it on the news. But remember the news slogans, if it Bleeds it Leads. Nobody cares about the good.
Thanks again for all your support!

I am in Iraq now, yahoo answers usually passes some down time for me. Thank you guys for caring about us, it really helps alot of us get through this craziness. Don't let the media tell you that we are all murderers and rapists. It doesn't help our morale when we feel that we are doing wrong here because the news only shows the bad. We do good things here, i hope you remember that always.
