You don't want to neuter because it's wrong??? How about how wrong it is for us to breed millions of dogs worldwide, when there is already a massive problem of unwanted, starving and feral dogs out there??? We wanted to control everything else in the dogs life and it's lineage, what about taking some responsibility for the problem we've caused by ignorance and overbreeding??

Sorry- can you tell I used to work at an animal shelter?

Apart from my venting, it will be pretty much the only way to stop him from feeling the need to hump.

Please at least talk to a vet about sterilisation for your dog? It really isn't that big a deal, and at least you know for certain you are not allowing your dog to be a father to an unwanted litter of pups

My chihuahua does that, too. I have 2 German Shepherds and he constantly sniffing and licking them there. He humps the back of their legs b/c that's where he reaches. It's funny, but sometimes embarrassing. I don't want him fixed either. I'm gonna watch to see if anyone gives a good answer so it might help my chihuahua. Good Luck! Dogs don't spray, they hike and mark their territory especially around puppies or females to let other animals know he's there-stay away!

Have a good man-to-man talk with that dog. Say, "Do you have the slightest inkling of how ridiculous you look running around humping every Tom Dick and Harry with that stupid do-or-die expression plastered on your face?!" Or buy him a Panthouse mag and a box of Kleenex and lock him in the bathroom, horny little dude.

Sorry, but he's got Ma Nature behind him...

the only true fix to this is to get him neutered. my next door neighbors have had a dogs for about 3.5 years now and he isnt fixed. awhile ago he liked to hump towels and only a certain towel but then he wouldnt stop... he still does it and he is an outdoor dog that runs around outside ALL DAY!!! get over your f'ing testosterone macho male ideas and unless you are gonna use him as a "stud" then get his *** into the vet ASAP! otherwise if a female dog goes into heat in your neighborhood then he is gonna go bonkers and excape from your yard and go get her knocked up. GET HIM NEUTERED!

Fix him, it isn't wrong it is the responsible thing to do, if you don't fix him humping will lead to SPraying ON EVERYTHING .. yup Everything , If you exercise him more that may make him soo Tired that he won't think about doing this.. but then again it could just stay the same..

FIX HIM!

The dog will probably mellow out as it gets older, but for now I'd say get a spray bottle and spray it everytime it humps something, after awhile anytime you have the spray bottle it will behave and think twice when you don't have it.

your dog may just have excess energy to burn. sometimes mounting (mostly other dogs) is a sign of wanting to play; especially if the other dogs or people react by playinwith it. try playing with your dog or going to the park to run off some energy. also, do try a stuffed animal and see if that helps. if none of this seems to lessen the mounting, call your vet in case there is something wrong with your dog.

You really should neuter him. There is nothing wrong with it unless you plan to breed him. You'll really have fun when he starts spraying his urine around the house to mark his territory! Don't punish him when he does it. That's what dogs do. If you don't like it, get him neutered!

Well if you don't want them to get fixed, I'm afraid you're going to have to get used to the constant humping. Have fun!

Get over your own testosterone and get the poor guy neutered. He'll be less frustrated and you'll be less embarressed. If you don't intend to breed him, there's no reason for him not to be free of his drive.
