You are experiencing what is commonly known as "night terrors." They are distinct from ordinary nightmares in that the physical response is much more intense. You should schedule an appointment with your doctor as soon as possible. There are medications that may help you sleep much better.
There are also alternative medicines available over the counter. Calms Forte is a natural, homeopathic product that is quite effective at helping one to relax and to sleep. Valerian is also an excellent herb for maintaining sleep, but unfortunately, it tends to have a poor odor and a worse taste. This assumes, of course, that you are legally adult and reponsible for what you consume.
Consult with your doctor to find out what options are best for you.

I know about that. It's completely normal. Your mind has been thinking about scary scenes off the movie. It hapens 2 most of us. But learn how to control your mind. Don't think about it. If u want 2 get it out of your head, don't think about it. Think about this- frighten images appear in ur IMAGINATION. THey're NOT real. They WON'T harm you. YOU'RE strong and NOONE can frighten your wit.
Take over your wandering mind, but dont let your mind take over you.
Like me, i usually get scared in the dark. It's because i think about ghosts n scary stuff. but when i dont, i'm not afraid at all. It's al part of your mind.
I don't believe in ghost. The Grudge, to me is just a horror thriller movie. Even if it scared my GUTS out, i shouldn't be thinking about it, because it's not real and the director made it to entertain us.
remember,
take control of your mind, and not the other way round.
if its seriously bothering u,
i recommend you to go through hypnosis therapy, to calm yourself down, and i promise you, everything will be fine.

You need to find a creative outlet in your waking hours to express these thoughts. I believe it is an artistic want that you have that is expressing itself from the subconscious in a language only IT really knows. I use to have this kind of thing happen to me all of the time. It can be a result of too much anxiety. Perhaps too much caffeine? Do you drink a lot of sodas or coffee? Think about limiting it if you do. The human mind is still programed in a primordial way. Its root is seeded in the belief that we are still struggling for survival in the wilds of the jungle. Because we have such a comfortable life style nowadays, our minds can make up all kinds of things to satisfy that ancient almost yearning to be in fear and under pressure. We thrive on stress. Think of them as good things. Think of them as images presented to your mind for your approval or disapproval. Dismiss them as you please. Make them YOUR servants! Make art!
All peace to you.

Perhaps you need to get yourself into better habits... balance things out a bit more... watch a few less horror movies and a few more sit-com shows.
You may also need to recognize when you're "entertaining yourself" by thinking emotionally rather than calming yourself by thinking rationally. Rational thinking is your best friend, always; emotion, however, goes the way that it wants to.
And, finally, be honest with yourself - be honest with the rest of us, too.

Watch really funny movies before going to bed, and just try to think of good things before going to sleep.
