I would not advise reading anything by Silver Ravenwolf. Not to be rude to her, or anything, she's a bit ...fluffy. I think you need to really study and learn all you can about the craft. Wiccan isn't about being a high priestess at the age of 13 and making covens. It's not even possible to be a real priestess at that age. Most covens don't even allow minors in at that age, because of the fact that they're minors. It's not even really what all the little teen witches say it is. It's not what you see on tv. Those sorts of shows are fiction. Charmed is a really good show, but it's not true Wicca. It's a whole mishmash of stuff. It's entertainment. Wicca is not about love spells and getting revenge on people who harm you or dislike you, it's not about you hating all christians. It's not devil worship, it's not evil, and it's not heathen. It's not about that at all. Of course, it could be about any of that, but that's really selling yourself short, and it's generally frowned upon by the more serious pagan community. It takes a lot of serious study to become a witch. Find a community and learn from them. Ask questions. (And please please please don't refer to Salem Witch Trials as "The Burning Times." Hardly any of the people killed during that time were even involved in the occult. They were just people that others didn't like that were scapegoated.)

A really good (if somewhat lengthy and almost textbookish type) book is called Drawing Down the Moon by Margot Alder. She has done lots of research on pagan religions and has a lot of good information in her book, plus she has a whole list of books and resources she used for her research. There are some other links listed below that might help. (Note: These forums may not be active anymore, but there are some good book listings and information.)

Always remember that you shouldn't just let one person's opinion or one group's opinion be your opinion. You're supposed to form your own opinions and practices. ^_^ So you really have to want to study and learn about yourself and your beliefs. You have to want to do all of this and excel at it. It's not just going to drop into your hands, it takes work. ^_^

Good luck! ^_^

Wicca is not being a 'white' witch for there is only one type of witch. If you are honestly interested in exploring the craft I would suggest either "WICCA A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner" by Scott Cunningham or "To Ride a Silver Broomstick" by Silver Ravenwolf. Both books are great beginner books and are fairly straight forward.

The "black witch" and "white witch" labels are things invented by the ignorant movie-makers in Hollywood. All magick is a mixture of good and bad. But when you cast a spell to do good, the good outcome usually outweighs the bad outcome, as with a curse, where the bad outcome usually outweighs the good. Personally, I'd stick with the good side of things. I don't want karma to come back and bite me in the ***!

To Ride a Silver Broomstick by Silver Ravenwolf is not a bad start. I also recommend Spiral Dance by Starhawk. They make a good balance together.

Other good books are "The Witches Bible Compleate" and "A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner". Last time I checked both were available on E-bay, you might also try new age bookstores.

There are alot of really great books on the subject, websites tend to be a little hokey and inaccurate. Study from a variety of sources trust your heart and make up your own mind.

And what is a white witch? Aren't they all the same.......... they contact the devil? Why do you want to be on the dark side? What so appealing about it?

I hope you change your mind and may your soul rest in peace. That's not a wise decision my dear.

Read, "To Ride A Silver Broomstick"

I forget who wrote it. But I have a copy at home. Right beside my bible.
