Why is no one keeping them in check? They are obviously out of control.

It is quite obvious that you have absolutely no idea of what is going on in the middle east. Get an education and at the same time try to learn why Israel is on the offensive in southern Lebanon. Stupidity is the ruination of mankind.

They are a sovereign nation, and not, as some say, the USA's lap dog. We have some influence, but they are aggessively going to respond to any attack, and there's not much anyone can do short of a military intevention to stop it. The UN would be the most likely group to do that, and they don't have the resolve or the backbone for any serious military action. They might send some blue helmets in there from Fiji or something, but it's gonna be useless.

Well first of all I am not at all well educated in this matter, but from the USA's standpoint doesn't it have something to do with the whole end days prophesies in the bible an our president being a crazy religious nut? He wants things do go bad there so that Jesus will come to earth again and save him. I guess by writing this I've gone and condemned myself to hell.

because if you stick your foot in a war then you get stuff like vietnam, and iraq. the fewer of those that there are the better.
The UN isn't going to risk any more of their peace keeping troops because they will only be the target from two sides.

Duh. If any one is out of control it's Lebanon, which allowed a terrorist group, Hezbollah, to take over the country.
