Because they are human and humans are fallible.
None of the examples you give are specific to Catholics, nor missing in people of other faiths nor in atheists.

Are you the pregnant daughter who's been kicked out and living in a slum? Or are you the persecuted homosexual? Or was it your bag that the nun kicked down the aisle? Or all three?
In any case, Catholics have problems with sin, just like everybody else.
The only difference is, they know for sure that all their sins are forgiven, when they walk out of the confessional.
They should be very grateful for that, and their gratitude should be manifest in the way they treat others.
If it's not, they need to keep working on it.
Catholic sacraments are valid, and they really do give grace, so there's no reason to give up hope. Not just yet, anyway.

Because they are human beings. Hypocrisy is the worst kind of thing a person can do as it is the biggest "turn off" from what they teach. But remember most people here can say that they know a protestant, Mormon, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim or atheist who have done the same thing. People are people and therefore are hypocritical at times. I sure hope you learn to separate the bad from the good.
Can you honestly say you have never behaved hypocritically? If you have sinned then you have. Correct? Unless you believe nothing is wrong but then that would contradict you post...you wouldn't care that SOME Catholics are hypocrites. Perhaps you're not Christian but remember "Let he who is with out sin cast the first stone."

Wow, you sure have seen a lot of terrible things. I think a more appropriate question would be why ANYONE would profess their beliefs and then behave in a way that is opposite of it. Pointing out Catholics specifically kind of shows prejudice on your part, since this kind of behavior is not confined to a specific group of people. The answer to that would be that what we hold to be ideal is often hard to live up to. Although I think it would not be too difficult to ask that children not be locked in dark cellars for punishment~you really ought to report that kind of thing to the authorities.

I dunno, neither I ,a Catholic, can answer that.. it is probably innate in some persons( no matter what their religion is) to be hypocrites. I abhor those persons, too..well, I just hope you would not focus only on Catholics. There are some who are truly righteous. Probably those hypocrites, still didn't hear or understand in their hearts the true meaning of being a Christian and following the teachings of Christ.

I don't think it's only CAtholics... but anyone can be a hypocrite when not walking their talk. I've met many good people from the Catholic church. It can be any religion or a belief.... one can walk in hypocricy and deception before God. May we learn from others' mistakes and not repeat them and be wise and good and considerate..... :-)

Look beyond Catholics I think you'll find it with all religions and non-believers. You are not asked to judge others, that is someone elses' job, work on your self and surround your self with moral friends.
