medical prescribtion of doctors can be read only by the people in pharmacy and by himself. It's not understandable by common patients. This is not because they are unaware of medical terms...doctors' e,i,t.l everything looks the same. Do they write personal letters also in the same handwriting? Expecting reply from doctors ...

I've worked with doctors that can't even read their own handwriting. I'm dead serious. It's just scary.

Personally, I think it's a class in med school that they all take--Illegible Handwriting 101. It's pass/fail...if the professor can read their term papers, they fail.

i work in the medical field and have difficulty reading some of their handwriting. there has been some effort in teaching doctors to write better but it will never happen. that is just their way. mainly because they can be so rushed sometimes. I have horrible writing myself but i dont work in a position that requires it. when i need to find out what a doctors chickenscratch is i will call them directly.

I'm not a doctor but I guess they believe that nurses and pharmacists should be familiar with the names/brands of medications even if it's written in a not readable manner by non-medical people.

I too have noticed that.

I guess because if somebody dies or have bad effects by the prescribed medicine, doctor can say that he had written some other medicine and thus he will escape.

Thanks

Well, I am not a doctor, but I find it difficult to write on a clipboard standing up. Plus, they have to write at super-speed because they know that their patient is waiting! =)
