The Church reported that as of December 31, 2005 it had a total of 12,560,869 (living) members.
It took a good 100 years to reach the first million, and since then there have been several people who witnessed the Church grow from 1 million to 10 million during the following 50 years. As a result, many took notice of the Church's rapid growth rate and calculated that by the year 2080 the Church's membership would reach a staggering 265 million.
However, other mathematicians have taken additional variables into consideration, and after doing some pretty fancy math, concluded the Church will ultimately plateau and reach a stable membership of around 30 million.

There are about 12 million members worldwide. It is one of the fastest growing religions. I am not sure about future projection. By the way, the membership numbers have nothing to do with non-living members records.

I see many who have quoted 12 million members. A good question to ask one's self is how many are active? From my experience one could safely take that number and divide it by four. Growth? It would be interesting to see if current conversion rates are even keeping up with those who are requesting their names to be removed from the rolls. It has become easier and, like myself, many are choosing to leave that organization.

We have approximately 12 million LIVING members... we don't keep count of those that are dead... contrary to popular belief...
I do not know what the projections are... but we are building several new temples and some meeting houses...
