I'd steer clear of any chains - including Brewer's Fayre (yuck! One time I've been to one of those pubs, got bad service and food posioning), Hogshead, Beefeater, etc.

Go for the independent pubs - they have more control over what they can cook, what beer they can supply, and so forth. A lovely pub I know in the back of beyond, surrounded by woods on a little back road in rural Oxfordshire is run by an English man, married to a Thai lady. Result - lovely pub, serving some of the best Thai food ever tasted.
Another pub I like is a couple of hours drive from where I live in Scotland - lots of low beams, open fire, river running outside - and a Cullen Skink to die for, for about £5. Again, an independent.

Why bother with chain pubs, when you can do so much better? If no-one went to these chains, they would soon go out of business! If you don't want to get the microwaved gunge, don't order it. Simple.

Most "pubs" are in Britain or Ireland. Most other countries have "Bars"

Weatherspoons is the best chain. Good food, cheap, has non smoking areas, and no noise from slot machines.

Look out for local independent pubs though. Some of these do great food!

If anybody asked me for a reliable pub/food chain around here I'd say Chef and Brewer. Good service and not bad food. Local breweries provide the beer too which is nice :-)

continuously 21 continuously has stylish, a lot less severe priced clothing, besides the straightforward incontrovertible fact that the common isn't continuously the total. you need to objective shops like Aeropostale which generally have tremendous sales (each so regularly seventy 5% off!). also, Abercrombie and Fitch is many circumstances very expensive, yet i surely are growing to be some steals by ability of ordering their clearance on-line. Delia's also has some good sales the position you may get even the hot kinds for heavily decrease expenditures. this isn't continuously about searching a save that sells a lot less costly clothing, each so regularly you in easy words could scope out sales and deals. good success! Wetherspoons are indeed very good but also Pathfinder pubs. We have a new one in our local town and we have been there 4 times in the last month. We rarely eat out (kids, broke etc) but we like it so much and it's good value. They have a website with a search facility. Though I agree with the respondant who bemoans the lack of individual premises. We're lucky in that our village pub is a freehouse and does good food too.

Try Geronimo Inns around London. They have about 15 pubs I think, and their food is seriously good, you get loads of different choices everyday, and with each main meal a choice of about 3 different veg, 3 different types of potato ie: mashed, sauteed, dauphinoise. And it's really resonable. I konw there is one called the Fentiman arms at Oval. The East Hill in Wandsworth. Have alook at their website. http://www.geronimo-inns.co.uk

"turbo grilled, microwaved gunge". You must be talking about Hogshead pubs. Weatherspoon's isn't much better though. At least it's cheaper though.

That definitely rules out Hogshead pubs then.
Oh, and sort out your crap service too.
That goes for all the pub chains.
Bring back the proper pubs.

ever tried a hungry horse they're great for freshly cooked steaks, if you don't like micowaved stuff avoid things like lasagne or basically anything you can imagine buying as a ready meal from a supermarket. but their desserts are great check out their website http://www.hungryhorse.co.uk/ oh yeah and you'd better have a big appetite!
