Sure it could be your father's ghost!! He is just trying to finish some project that he didn't get finished while he was on this earth in body..... GO out to the shed when you hear the banging and say to the spirit " GO TO THE LIGHT!!" most ghost do not know they are dead, or they didn't go to the light..... TRY it.

Possibly. If he is trying to let you know that there is a life after death. The only thing that worries me is that the dog won't go in the shed at all. Did the dog know your Father? If it did it should not be reluctant to go in. Have you checked for footprints leading into or out of the shed? could be a trespasser using the shed for shelter and the dog doesn't like something about the person. Did your dad give any of the neighbors permission to use the tools in the shed anytime they wanted to?Have you checked out the shed your self our with somebody?
Have it checked out for your safety. If no physical reason can be found then you most likely have the spirit of your father or a relative trying to give you a answer that something survives after the death of the Physical body.

Well, it could be. Maybe he thought heaven would be hanging out in the shed!
It could be that he's confused, or he truly wants to be there, or you've got a squatter. Be brave, take a friend, go out at night. Look around for any evidence of a squatter or some other invader. If there isn't any, just start talking to your father. You don't have to get rid of him, just live with him and let him come and go as he wants.

Wow, that's creepy. Sounds like the tv shows Most Haunted and Ghost Hunters. Maybe you can try what those people are doing in these shows to see if you can communicate with whatever that's out there.

I agree with tuflady there are no such things as ghost only demons that pose as those we have lost. If you are a Christian rebuke the noise in Jesus' name. Our first house we rented when I was married to my ex, was haunted was never sure or not but I would hear weird noises at night when I was the only one home like walking around in the livingroom or the hallway. My parents came to visit while he was in navy and deployed they heard weird things at night too, we rebuked the noises at night and I never heard them again.

No. But it could be the materialization of your feelings. You loved your father very much, and because the grief of losing him has not subsided, their will still be an earthly connection until such feelings are dealt with properly. I lost my father in Nov. 2004.

your husband used to fix the shed well, once he is gone, there is no one to take care of, shed's roofing and windows may be loose. when the wind blows it can make repeated hitting like sounds, look out for rodents and owls

No. Your father's spirit has better things to do in heaven than be up late hammering at nothingness.

Certainly. But I would first rule out santa claus, bigfoot, the loch ness monster, and the "real killers" of Ronald Goldman first, just to be sure.
