Since none of us remember existing before we were born, what makes anyone think that we'll exist after we die?

Because it is simple reality. If a person has accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior they will have eternal life. If not they will experience eternal punishment and separation from God. It is one or the other.

As for "Ecclesiastes 9:5..." above, how would they know either.

Wee need to believe in an after life or else there would be chaos everywhere. Ther would be no sense of consequence. Think about why most people "behave". If killing, cheating, lying, whoring, cursing the lord, etc. were not looked at as damning actions, no one would thing twice. If we just died at the end and nothing else, we would try to squeese every pleasure out of life while we were here.

Yes, lots of us think death = "that's all folks"

Consider what we know:
- few of us remember anything prior to about age 1.5
- the brain has been inextricably linked to our thoughts in study after study
- when you die, the brain stops working
- no one within your personal sphere has ever come back from the dead
- you are not always conscious even when you are alive
- death is real scary and it sure would be nice if we didn't have to die in some sense

What do we know about life after death? Nothing, so what's the proper conclusion?

Very good question, and the Bible has the answer.

The Bible always compares death to sleep. Look up these scriptures and you will see how it is compared to sleep:

Psalm 13:3; 1 Thessalonians 4:13; John 11:11-14.

And back to your question, yes we do stop existing. Ecclesiastes 9:5 states: "For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten."

"The Bible says.... ...*Ding!* Turn the page"

I never believed there was an afterlife... I'm a non believer, but yeah, I feel it's a nice idea, and it would be great in regard to loved ones already lost...but it seems like a long shot. I feel that if there were the slightest chance of anything like that that it's still very much here and nothing to do with religious related stuff.

people have to believe they continue living because they are scared that after they die then that is the end of their life. they need security. have you ever wondered why most people who belive in any sort of religion, that has to do with living after death, are on pills for crazy people. i work in a doctors office and we have people who are die hard christian that pass out those little pamphlets on god that are on happy pills. they are all crazy!!! i guess it is all on what you are raised on too. but you can get out of that. I DID!!!

Good question. Why are christians so arrogant that they think their existance for eternity is a desirable thing.
