I would expect that the leaders of my country acted in a rational manner and not pandered to community sentiment by immediately sending our army into their country.

In the playground I was taught that just because another kid hit me, that it was not OK to hit them back. I was taught that there are better ways to solve a problem and that "hitting back" would just make things worse.

Seeing as I learnt this lesson when I was a 5 year old I would expect the leader elected by my country would act more maturely than a child.

The problem nowadays is that countries are often forced to stop short of completely ahniliating their enemies, unlike WW2 where the Allies didn't stop attacking Germany until the point where it essentially couldn't wage any more war.

This gives both sides to recover, but also lets the hatred continue to brew, which will inevitably result in more violence down the road (if you're referring to the stuff in the Middle East, it's quite messy and complex to deal with, when you throw religion into the mix).

Our country has been under a constant attack since 1979. I agree with Captian Dan Ouimette USN, "America has to "Get out of Bed" and act decisively now. America has changed forever. We have to be ready to pay the price and make the sacrifice to ensure our way of life continues. We cannot afford to hit the Snooze Button again and roll over and go back to sleep. We have to make the terrorists know that in the words of Admiral Yamamoto after the attack on Pearl Harbor "that all they have done is to awaken a sleeping giant."

What blows my mind, is that after all the wars we have had on this planet that were fought to end wars and all they did was fuel more wars. So why should we think that this war will end all wars. Maybe the Human race should head off in a completely new direction and leave all the fighting behind us. Most of these wars are over who will get to be the big shot and run the planet. I intend to move on in spite of all the rest of those idiots.

well it depends on the country, if it is the USA,my country, I expect that we would attack back for a prolonged amount of time and detain citizens as terrorists indefinately, take over utilities, set up our own corporations and corporate contracting for security, replace whoever is in charge and possibly occupy the land until we find suitable replacements to occupy for us,vilify the other nation and its peoples and let them taste our military might, other countries might react differently as they lack the military strength and resources to be any match for us, all the countries of the world combined are still outnumbered,by our military, we have bases all over the world, there are more us bases then there are countries, so the other countries have to adapt to our expanding empire and cultural imperialism or cease to exist

Given that the United States has toppled two governments in response to September 11, I think the answer is fairly obvious.

I'm an American. Do I even need to answer this? We'd attack the offending country with UN support, remove the standing government, and replace it with one which would be much less prone to kicking our collective rear in the future.

Why someone will attack your country? You (like Israel) must have done something wrong in the first place to provoke them.
Suppose you didn't provoke them, Then you don't have the right to kill innocent civilians, children, women & elderly people of the country (Israel is doing this).

Find the attacker and punish him! Not just someone in the crowd, not someone they dislike, not someone you planned on attacking anyway, but FIND THE ATTACKER AND PUNISH HIM.What would you do, set someone up, whom you didn't agree with. Or just make up a bull sh it story like you just did! Pretzel Face!
