Purring is a sign of comfort. A lot of kittens will also knead your chest or stomach...that's a great sign, because that's how they'd nurse with their mothers.

The main way cats convey emotion (not love, per se, but trust and comfort) is mostly through their eyes. If they gaze at your face, blinking slowly, while you cuddle them, that's a good sign that your kitten loves you. She may also rub the side of her face against your hands or touch her nose to parts of your face or neck--all of these are signs that you kitten feels contented and happy.

If you have developed the right kind of relationship, she sees you as Mom--someone who strokes, cuddles, and feeds her. She loves you very much. There was recently an article about animals and their feelings in Scientific American Mind, February/March 2006, which you can probably get at the public library.

Your kitten loves you so much, that whenever he sees you at the door, he purrs, and he kisses you. Your kitten has a very close, intamite relationship with you. The Cat sleeps on the edge of your bed and sings for you.

When a cat "head butts" you with the top of their head, its the ultimate sign of love and trust, according to my vet. There are no scent glands (like on the side of the face), so there's no marking involved. Its a submissive posture for a cat and it means "I love you and I know you would never hurt me". I respond to my cat Zack the same way when he does it (when he goes to head butt me, I touch my forehead to his). He purrs like mad when I do it and drools (he only does that when he's REALLY happy). Its cat body language.

If it follows you around, purrs, licks you, gives you a love bite on the neck (my Dubby does this), sleeps next to you, or cries for food that means it loves you. I taught my kittens how to cuddle, so now they do not just lick me they hug me to tell me that they love me.

Isn't it common knowledge - cats don't love anyone. The closest they come to any kind of affection is after lengthy
torment - just before they kill mice.

Cats don't experience love. They're all evil killing machines. Your kitten would eat you if it was big enough.
