just look at all the wonder around you, a bird flying, the waves crashing, a flower blooming, children playing, the seven wonders of the world , all this should show you just how close you are to god, taking drugs will just make you loose track of whats already in front of you.

A wise man said "Drugs are a window and not a door".
Ie, you can have a mystical expereince on some hallucinogens, if you are psychologically prepared, and the time is right, but ultimately it will be a temporary expereince.
In order to find the door, you have to give over your life to finding God, and this is no small thing.
Im not talking about religion either. Im talking about real expereince of God. To find it, you have to search for the Truth.
As you go allong, what seems to be the Truth at first will change, as you see more, but if you keep seaching, with all your heart and soul, you will find it.
So you can see some things, and expereince some things on drugs, which is fine, and maybe even useful, but eventually we have to give up all our crutches.
P.S. Be careful, and choose people you trust with your soul.

THE UNBIASED ANSWER!!!!!!
I seriously don't know if they would bring you to god, maybe they would if you consider god as yourself. What a "drug" does supposedly is altar your present state of conciseness, which of course means it effects you. Which would kinda make sense? This is just based on my thoughts and experiences. But since you are the brain inside your body, memories, experiences, personalty? Will all be affected depending on the drug you take. I'm guessing the ones your seeking are the hallucinogens. Which of course cause you to hallucinate, open or closed eyed visuals, of whatever that's on your mind. One of these would be psilocybin other wise know as the (magic mushroom).Which is a extremely powerful and "spiritually" changing experience.
I can't really tell you anything like what what it would be like for you of course...since the experience is different for everyone. There isn't any reports of it ever causing physical harm. However do not underestimate what it can do to you mentally. If your serious and would like to research more into it, or many others which are both safe and harmful, I would recommend looking into it on this UNBIASED informative website. http://www.erowid.org/. Lots of information regarding lots of "drugs".

In all seriousness, I have had some of my most spiritual experiences while under the influence. I don't do drugs now but I used to and I have to admit it made me feel closer to God in many ways. I have had some very profound spiritual moments when perfectly sober also so my spirituality is in no way drug dependent.

My answer to your first question is “No.”
Let me clarify. From a clinical point of view, some drugs have a long history of being used in counseling therapies to treat patients who were affected by bad memories of the past. These drugs produced an altered state of consciousness in patients where these memories could be clinically dealt with. The mental improvement of patients was of course directly dependant on how successful the treatment was. These treatments were not without risks.
But I wonder if religious people—for that matter anyone—can get closer to God by “getting induced” into mystical experiences! To put this in proper perspective, I would look a little beyond your question itself. I perceive that the root cause of this need for using drugs is the desire to see life from a different angle—to find the ultimate meaning of life. It is wonderful to have such a desire! But this desire is never fulfilled via drugs. If the goal is to get closer to God, we can do that meaningfully only when we are in right state of mind. God wants us to be in right mind and expects us to relate to him in right mind. So trying to know and experience God through “an altered state of mind” would only get us out of our head!
Drugs cannot and they don’t take us closer to God, be it in a clinical laboratory or in an emotionally hyped religious frenzy. We can get closer to Him only by accepting Him as He is and trying to live by His standards for our lives.
(I’m sure I have answered your second question also!!).

we must be sober at all times to be close to God (read it is clear) Sober means of Clear mind, and drugs like alcohol only baffles the mind. Making man lower than the animal. or like a mentally sick person.
1Pe 1:13 Be alert and think straight. Put all your hope in how kind God will be to you when Jesus Christ appears.
1Pe 4:7 But the end of all things has drawn near. Therefore be of sound mind, and be sensible to prayers
Act 17:11 And these were more noble than those of Thessalonica, in that they received the Word with all readiness of mind and searched the Scriptures daily to see if those things were so.
The best thing to be close to God: PRAYER, PURITY OF THE HEART, HONNESTY, REPENTENCE. that not only will make you closer to God but makes Him come to you!

No, they bring Satan into your life and give him greater control of your life because the drugs actually take you further away from God but allow Satan better access to you, and for him to pose as God, Therefore you may feel that they might bring you closer to God but it's just a mirage!

Shamans of alot of the worlds cultures used (and still use) hallucinogens to come into contact with the what they believed was the spirit world. I don't think Christians think any drugs do this with their God, but it's definately believed by some idegenous tribes of Africa and the Amazon that certain hallucinogenic plants take you into a trance and allow you to contact the dead and communicate with the spirit world.

Absolutely not. In fact, the effect is just the opposite. You are taken away from God because you have ceased to worship Him and are instead worshipping the drugs.
Besides, God entrusted you with a healthy body and mind. Those are his basic gifts to you other than life, itself. Why injure a gift?

Your Spiritual life is already there, development of it naturally will allow you to remain on a solid platform always, instead of being shot up there in a rocket, because you have to fall back down and its a long way down. You don't have to break through a glass pane to see what is on the other side, purify your consciousness and experience the bliss naturally.
