Probably exhaustion.
It takes a lot of faith to believe in nothing but yourself.
When I work that hard with no relief, I get pretty cross. ; )

Brava, Brenda, brava!
These are amusing, intriguing and, in my experience, morally arousing phenomena rousted from the bowels our emotional security. Dependency has always been my label for such discussions, yet the enlightened peoples, or dare I say seekers of truth beyond the monotonous message, are rebuffed in all manners of self-reliance or trust. It is quite the paradox to ponder: am I expressing this because I choose to (since we *are* given free will) or did I not have a choice because these words were preordained? Maybe if I chose not to think about it, I would say the latter.
As with sharing a relationship with a human, especially a mate, is it not important to have an understanding of what is right for the individual before moving forward with, not for, but with the other person?
I was born a Catholic, raised a Protestant, and after a few steps into adulthood I consider and study Islam. It is all the same, it really is; only blind belief and disdainful bullheadedness would say otherwise.
My suggestion to those on both sides of the issue is to practice good conflict (read: war) strategy: know your enemy. The pious must infuse a sense of reason to their beliefs (i.e. consider the scientific explanations of historic events...which is not to say that a sense of the supernatural will be totally removed, for God/Allah could exist merely as a purveyor of divine coincidence). The athiests should be versed in the holy texts.
To all the Bible Thumpers, 'versed' does not simply mean the ability to recite; support utilizing the arts of reason and rebuttal are how you free the thinking man's heart.
Knowledge is empowering for people, magnanimous for our relationships, and, as much as you would for your own child, I would assume for God/Allah it is endearing.
Personally, I choose agnosticism. I can still attain that blissfully ignorant, spiritual high, all the while knowing that my moral and emotional being is as good, or could be as bad, as I choose for it to be.

My studies and research shows that religious people are not exactly rocket scientists, they tend to be below average intelligence, and also have a tendency to be more violent than non-believers. In some cases, the more violent the person, the more religious they are. I suspect that the vast majority of religious people are well below average intelligence.
I wonder if trying to improve the intellectual standard of our global community, would help remove the various religions from our culture, and thereby improve happiness and peace for humanity.
It’s a statistical fact that the higher your education, income, and intelligence, the more likely you are not to believe in a god. For every college student that converts to a religious belief system, 17 college students convert to atheist beliefs.
Atheists have an average intelligence of 25 IQ points above their Christian counterparts. Ever wondered why the USA (75% Christian) is so arrogant, aggressive or violent towards others in this world?

To say there is a god is to forget all scientific exclamations.
Who ever throws science into the trash must be what they call nuts.
The thing is every one needs to see that the people in the bible are seeing science and calling it mystical.
Re-read the bible and act like a man with no knowledge of science, you start to realize that it all can be explained, and that there is a god, just these bubonic morons 1,000 of years ago have no idea what they are seeing.
So they say O AN Angel
or O a wheel in the sky!
The morons really are the people (Like christians) that dont realize this.
I Personaly I hate that bullshit that they say.
God is love, god is good.
Look around you morons and all you will see is the oppioste of what you just said.
Read the bible again this time with a pure mind and not the mind you were told to read it with when you were a kid, thats why i am VERY angry cuz no one has a god dang clue to who the real god is besides those who read the bible CORRECTLY!
Elohim elohi,
genesis 3:22
and Genesis 1:26
It refers to them, who is the real god.
(morons)

Hmm,
I think the ranting is usually from people who get fed up with having other people try to force their beliefs on them.
Or, being irritated by the assumption that not believing in God means you don't understand how to live a good, productive, moral life.
If some people need to have a sense of values and knowledge of right and wrong imposed from the outside, that is fine. But other people find purpose and truth from within.
It is rude to assume that everyone needs exactly the same things that you need.
I understand the argument about sharing something that is meaningful to you - but proseletyzing and trying to impress your beliefs on someone else is basically saying to them that their life is wrong - so they get mad about being judged unfairly.
Live and let live. Don't try to force your systems onto to others and nobody will be ranting.

Nope. Not angry at all. I just don't care for the fundamentalist religious people (whatever religion they might be). They think they are the only ones good in this world and everyone else is living a sinful life. I don't think it is anger but rather an irritation to have some people tell you how to live your life when they have no idea what my life is all about. Just because they read some book they think they have all the answers.

Why do SOME believers mindlessly generalize a couple of observations to an entire group?
In fairness though, my general observation is that nonbelievers are more blunt, which probably comes across as anger even though it isn't. Part of this is just expediency. We are in the vast minority and constantly having to defend our positions. There is little time for small talk.
The bigger part I think, is that we do not collectively fear having our position challenged, since it is not typically based on emotion. If you don't fear your position being challenged, you are less likely to play nice regarding the positions of others that you find absurd.

The way you worded your question made me click, now I'm here.
I believe in many Gods and I have no anger for any of them, even if I don't believe in someone's religion that does not cause me to have ill will towards them.
Now I don't like to be badgered by anyone about anything - religion, politics, or whatever.

The only time i am truly angry against religion is when i turn on the television and see, muslims blowing themselves up in order to convert the entire world to their beliefs, christians vs protestants in ireland, israel vs hezbollah, the nutjobs in kansas protesting soldiers funerals with signs that say god loves ied's, jehovas witnesses knocking on my door, evangelical ******* saying buy my bible and get into heaven, and the whole host of others saying i will burn in hell, but i will pray for you. When that stops, i won't be angry. Whew! Got a lot off my chest there, see i feel better now.

They say angry things? Like "you will burn in hell", "repent you dirty heathen", evolution is an evil lie, believe what I say", "your beliefs are lies, only I am correct", or things like that? Oh, that is Christians. Christians sent crusades and inquisitions. Christians burned, stoned, drowned, and tortured nonbelievers till dead. Now who is angry and who is persecuted? Look at the holocaust, that was Christians called Nazis. I could go on. Point being you are a hypocrite. Look at the bright side, we have not crusaded to kill you.

Atheists usually don't go up to someone and ask if they are a believer - we don't try to convert people- we don't knock on peoples' doors on a Saturday morning soliciting our beliefs- and we get sooo tired of those who believe in God that do these things. America was founded on Freedom, this includes Freedom of Religion
