There are more and more Christians leaving the faith than joining. This is actually very beneficial to humanity.
My studies and research shows that religious people are not exactly rocket scientists, they tend to be below average intelligence, and also have a tendency to be more violent than non-believers. In some cases, the more violent the person, the more religious they are. I suspect that the vast majority of religious people are well below average intelligence.
I wonder if trying to improve the intellectual standard of our global community, would help remove the various religions from our culture, and thereby improve happiness and peace for humanity.
It’s a statistical fact that the higher your education, income, and intelligence, the more likely you are not to believe in a god. For every college student that converts to a religious belief system, 17 college students convert to atheist beliefs.
Atheists have an average intelligence of 25 IQ points above their Christian counterparts. Ever wondered why the USA (75% Christian) is so arrogant, aggressive or violent towards others in this world?

I wouldn't be surprised. Alot of people call themselves 'Christian' for lack of better definition when asked what their religion is. It can throw off the count in polls and such- it would be interesting to know how many of the people who classify themselves as 'Christian' actually follow the religion.
p.s. Church isn't meant to 'save you'. It's meant to be a place where you can spend time with people who are also Christian, and where you can find support during hard times. Christianity is more than studying stuff at home, alone. It's about helping others and showing love for each other, for our communities, and for the world. That's why the Church was created. Christianity isn't meant to be lived out alone.

There is way less than 200 million. It's a shame. I'm one myself but I should be going to church this Sunday.

According to several websites, such as Religious Tolerance, Wikipedia, and others, adherents to Christianity in its various forms runs about 2.1 billion.
I used the L.A. Times (at the compuserve link below) as a source for percentages of people who attend at least once a month. Of those listed, it averaged out to about 26% attendance.
Based on that, we can assume that there are around 520,000,000 church going Christians in the world.
I'm not a mathematician, nor a statistician, nor try to be one. I just took what data I could find, and tried to produce results. My opinion and $1.50 will get you a cup of coffee at Denny's.

I don't know there are many thousands uncounted in secret house churches in China. And 850,000 alone in Paul Yongi Cho's Church in Seoul S. Korea.
And last but not least there are over one billion "Bible believing" Roman catholics in the World.

Yes, because I am one of them. I don't label myself a christian but a God loving believer. The church don't save you . Only Jesus does. I think for myself and study for myself. I don't need to hear a sermon behind a pulpit or some televangelist. God is all I need. God bless.
