If you are talking about the plug in ram for a computer, there are far more than 3 types. They keep getting up-graded, along with everything else, over time. So to say 3 types is of no relevance as there have been many types using different voltages and ever faster speeds etc.Ssince the early DOS days with 1 meg of ram, only about 560 K of which was even usable to hold the program, to todays 1 Gig sticks.

There are two basic types of RAM:
dynamic RAM (DRAM)
static RAM (SRAM)
The two types differ in the technology they use to hold data, dynamic RAM being the more common type. Dynamic RAM needs to be refreshed thousands of times per second. Static RAM does not need to be refreshed, which makes it faster; but it is also more expensive than dynamic RAM. Both types of RAM are volatile, meaning that they lose their contents when the power is turned off.
Synchronous DRAM (SDRAM)
When the concept of synchronizing a memory chip to the motherboard proved successful, the idea was retrofitted to DRAM chips. Synchronous DRAM synchronizes the interrupt requests to the motherboard and works just like SRAM, only with the higher density (and lower cost) of the DRAM chip. Most SDRAM controllers are built into the North bridge of the motherboard chip set.
Synchronous RAM (SRAM)
SRAM introduced a clock that was actually built onto the memory module. This allows the module to be synchronized to the motherboard clock, introducing the term synchronous, or synchronized memory. Another feature of SRAM chips was that they weren't as dense as DRAM. The chips used a matrix of 6-transistors and no capacitors. Transistors don't require power to prevent leakage, so SRAM didn't have to be refreshed on a regular basis. By staying charged, the data changed only when a register changed, making the chips a lot faster than DRAM.

DDR, RAMBUS (RDRAM), 144 pin SDRAM, DDR2, Extended Data Out (EDO) 72 pin SIMMs, SIPPs, 30 pin SIMMs, Fast Page Mode (FPM) 72 pin SIMMs, Dual Channel DDR RAM (memory architecture not so much RAM Type), Single Channel DDR RAM (memory architecture, not so much RAM type)
And then of course, you have your various types of Video RAM, including SGRAM, EDO, and SHARED RAM, among others.
Perhaps if you gave a context a more specific answer could be given...

There's more than 3, look at your computer spec for details of the RAM already fitted, so you can match it

Actually, there are more than three tipes, but some are obsolete... SODIMM, DIMM, SDRAM, DDR1 and DDR2... also videocards use ram chips way ahead of all others including DDR3 and GDDR, both much faster and more expensive that normal DDR

Umm, there are a lot more than 3 types depending on how many years back you're going to count.
From recent history, there's EDO, SDRAM, DDR SDRAM, RDRAM, DDR2 SDRAM, etc.
