They are the Trinity, but you must realize concerning Jesus that He was God in the Flesh. When Jesus asked "why have you forsaken me?" that was the flesh talking. It was not the spirit because the spirit could have come down and not endured the pain the pain that Jesus endured.

Jesus was interceding on behalf of the sinners that were persecuting Him & putting Him to death...asking for God, the Father to forgive them, because they did not realize what they were doing by putting to death, the Son of God. And at the moment that Jesus took all the sin in the world, past, present & future, on His shoulders, to pay a debt that we never could....God could not look at His only Son, shedding His blood for the sin of all mankind. And the trinity is God, the Father, Jesus, the Son, and the Holy Spirit...which was sent to dwell within us AFTER Jesus ascended into heaven. The Holy Spirit lives in the hearts & souls of the true believers, as a comforter & guide.

At the time that Jesus was on the cross, He had taken on all the sins of the world - all the sins of the past, present and future. God abhors sin, and at the very moment when he died, taking all those sins with him to death, God could not look upon Him (or Himself), and Jesus asked about being forsaken. He had to be forsaken at that very moment, because God wants nothing to do with sin, and Jesus had ALL of them on Him them.
Imagine yourself going to do a TV show where you play a character you hate, and you have had make-up that makes you look exactly like that character you hate, and you looked in the mirror. What would you do?

Better yet, who was close enough to hear it? The Romans wouldn't have allowed his followers to be near him (not to mention they chickened out and ran away earlier).
It's just a story. You can't enjoy it if you overanalyze it.

He was speaking of sin, when Jesus took on our sin he was momentarily separated from God, because that is what sin does.
