There is no home remedy for Epilepsy. This is a medical condition that has to be treaed by a Vet. You realy don't haee a choice here. The dog needs medical attention.

You need to get to the vet asap. He needs phenobarbital. It will stop the seizures. We have an 8 year old boxer that was having seizures in February. She needed medication. Boxers are prone to brain tumors and seizures especially when they get older 5 or 6. They will not stop without medication. Her meds cost 16 dollars a month. Mabye they can give you some samples temporarily. Although the dog doesn't remember the seizures it can be scary looking. Please go to the vet for your dogs sake.

Oh that's so sad :(. I have a boxer. Call the vet back and tell him you don't have the money to bring him in and ask if there is anything else you can do. Maybe they can work out a payment plan with you. There is no home remedy for seizures, he needs medicine. My friends dog gets them all the time and needs medicine everyday to control them. But please Call your vet and tell him your situation. Seizures can be life threatening. Good Luck.

Ok, if you don't have the money, then ask someone you know to call in their credit card number to the vets and pay for it for you. Then you pay them back. Ask a family member, friend, neighbor, boss, etc. Surely someone in the world knows and trusts you, right? It makes more sense that someone who knows you would lend you the money over the vet who doesn't know you and you expect to get a loan from. The vet is there to help the animal, not pay the bills for you. There is nothing over the counter to give him. If the seizure stopped after a minute or two and doesn't happen again, he should be OK till you get him to your regular vet in the morning. If he continues to seizure, this is a life threatening situation and you must take him to the emergency hospital.

Does the seizures look like he is about to or trying to vomit? If so this is common in the Boxer breed. I had a female that did that a lot, sometimes it just last 4-5 minutes. But there was nothing I could do but comfort her after wards....Good luck

Have you been using in flea or tick repellents on him? If so the active ingredient in it might be causing his seizures. Remove the flea collar if he has one on and don't use anymore commercial flea or tick remedies on him.

While he's having the seizure keep the area free of any objects that he might injure himself on. Just make sure he's breathing while he's having the seizure. Talk to him and reassure him that you're there. He will be very sleepy after the seizure ends. He'll probably curl up near you for a nap and reassurance.

I have a Pomeranian that built up a sensitivity to the active ingredient in flea and tick medications. He'd have a seizure about 30 minutes after I bathed him with the shampoo. The seizures were short, usually started out with him yelping and acting as if his front legs were stiff, then he'd have problems walking and eventually collapse and start having the seizure. We stopped using the flea and tick products and have had no more problems with the seizures.

There are herbal remedies for fleas and ticks including cedar oil. You just have to be very aggressive with sweeping, mopping and vacuuming on a daily basis. Make sure to use the herbal shampoo if there's any question in your mind about the dog's seizures.

Most herb or health food stores sell herbal alternatives to commercial flea and tick treatments.

I did find some herbal remedies here, but I'm not sure on their use. I've never used an herbal medication other than the flea and tick shampoo and cedar oil on my dogs.

Why did you get a dog when you can't even afford to give it proper health care? That is cruel and incredibly irresponsible. You are required to provide adequate veterinary care to your dog by law. If you do not take it to the vet, you may be found guilty of negligence and cruelty and sent to jail.
I feel sorry for your dog. Next time, make sure that you can support your pet before you get one.

Your dog needs urgent medical attention, it could be epilepsy or renal failure, you should never try to attempt to heal him on your own, you may actually endanger his health and make his case worse.
Go to your local humane society, they have vets too, but for a much lower fee.
If you don't get your dog a proper medical care, in some states, you may be accused of animal abuse/negligence and even get arrested!

You don't derserve a pet. Why would you get a pet if you can't even afford the cost of vaccinations? Just give your dog to a better home that has more money. If u care about your dog, just give him to somebody that has the money. If you are starving, what about your dog? You don't even have money to feed yourself and you own a dog. Just give him away. That's really irresponsible. If u don't have the money to pay for a pet, don't get one.
