Okay this may seem quite strange to some, but my male cat Lucky, will not step in his litter box. Instead he kinda perches over the side to use it, then very carefully covers it for about half an hour! He cannot stand to have his paws dirty! He will also clean himself to the point of being nearly bald! He gets attention 24/7, so I haven't a clue whats up with all the licking. Also, when you pet him, he thinks he must practically knock you over by butting you with his head right in your face. If he's mad he'll stick his rump in your face instead! LOL!!! He also adopts any kitten that wonders into our home, which is very strange behavior for a male cat ! He will even hold them down for a bath! I believe he thinks he is female due to being neutered at 12 weeks of age. Another funny thing is, he loves to be spun or rolled around in my desk chair by my two boys. Any time I'm out of the chair, he's in it waiting to be taken for a ride...lol!
Our kitten Socks, meows obsessively! Any time you even look at the little guy he will meow over and over non stop. Socks also has an obsession with smelling my husbands stinky work boots...ugh!!! He will stick his head in the boots and jump back immediately shaking his head only to try again....lol!

One of my cats is clausterphobic. I had to board him once when I went out of town. When I got back they had him in the kennel for LARGE animals. Apparantly he was going crazy in the regualr one, knocking his food and water all over the place, litter everywhere etc... I moved last year and got a copy of his vet records and it said in big letters "Clausterphobic" on it. He also goes crazy if any of the doors in the house are closed (not the doors to outside, just between rooms). He will sit at the door and meow and attack it. He also does it when I'm in the shower, I see his little pink nose pressed up against the glass shower door. His other obsession in Q-Tips. He goes crazy when he sees one, he loves to play fetch with them. He even learned how to open the drawer where I keep them and get them out. When I move my couch to vacuum I always find a pile of them.

Mine did that, too, and I think it was b/c I didn't put quite enough litter in the pain.
I love my kitties and my puppy, but they are a wierd bunch!
My female kitty, Isis, will randomly flop down on to her side. She can be just walking around...and flop! I thought cats were susposed to be graceful!
My male kitty, Bart, is kind of psycho. I think it's b/c he is still quite young, but he will try to use me as a scratching post! With no warning, he will attempt to climb up my leg. It's very disconcerting. One minute, he's happily playing with Isis, and the next he has his little needle claws dug into my thing. I love him, though.
My dog, Aurora, will not go outside! I have to bribe her to go outside into the yard. Sometimes, I just give up and carry her. She only weights 80 lbs! LOL

Great question. I often wonder the same thing with one of my cats. Sometimes I will find that he is staring at an old spiderweb hanging down that is hard to see. Other times I have no idea what he could be staring at and for so long.

I have to laugh, I've had cats all my life and I think they are ALL ocd in one way or another. My current calico, Monkey, is 15. She craps on the floor in front of her litter box if she sees me pet the dog. Also, if I leave the loaf of bread on the counter, she jumps up and eats the bread bag and all. That goes for any bread product, buns, rolls, whatever. I had another cat that had to sleep on my pillow. They are all like that!

I am glade that I am not the only one who has had or is dealing with a compulsive animal. I had a cat (passed away) that would groom herself bald!! It got soo bad that the vet required me to bath her in an iodine solution once every two days. She finally stopped, but picked up another bad habit of attacking any visitor that came to our home.

Excessive covering is usually done by a cat that feels insecure, is near or at the bottom of the feline totem poll in rank. Give him a lot of attention, make him feel important. Make sure the others aren't picking on him. Sixteen cats...^5s!!!!!!!! You are a GOOD PERSON

My cat Moses likes to steal my chair. Everytime I get up to do something, before I can get back in it he will steal it so I can't sit there. Then he looks at me like "What, I didn't do anything wrong." He is a sweet kitty, but sometimes I think he's too smart for his own good.
