They only care about proving they are "right". Thats why they leave out important information, because it may contradict their biblical BS. I think you'll find most of the Bible is contradictions and total crap.

Stephanie, God did not "come from" anyplace, or "come to be". He always was, always is, and always will be. Scientific explanations are human attempts to describe something observable - so how can a scientific explanation ever describe something that is beyond all creation and beyond all human reason and beyond all human observation? It's not possible. God is outside of time, place, being, existence and everything else created - and all those things that he is outside of, He created.
So your question is kind of like drawing a stick figure with crayon, and then wondering why the stick figure you drew can't understand everything about you, how you were born, the principles of genetics that made you look like you do, etc.
As for faith in a higher power, maybe to you it seems like a "crutch". To others who have that faith and who know the joy and the fulfillment of it, it is a way of life - and not only of life, but of Life with a capital "L", meaning eternal life. A crutch is something used to substitute for a real thing. The faith that Christians have is the REAL THING, which the apparent and temporary things of this world are trying desprately (and failing miserably) to substitute for.
Finally, not all Christians believe that things like the "big bang" theory are completely far fetched. Why do so many non-Christians assume that it has to be God or "Science"? Science is a way of describing what humans observe. So if God created the universe, who is to say He didn't do it in a way that left some observable signs? I have no problem with the Big Bang theory (even as I recognize that it is just a theory, which may or may not be correct), because Big Bang or no Big Bang, I know who created the universe and everything in it. It's not that critical to me to understand the exact detailed mechanism by which He did it - nor is it possible to for the one inside the experiment to simultaneously observe the experiment and theorize about its cause.

We dont leave it out, you just haven't learned it yet.. God came from nowhere riding on nuthin. He thought. The thought became the Word. The Word went to work. In six days He created everything, sans one. The seventh day He took the day off. After that he created the Help Mate, the intity suitable to be partner to the man He created in His image== He took a rib and made a woman.... And He hasn't had a break since then.. I would say that six days to make everything is a pretty big fast bang, wouldn't you?
If your legs are sickly and you cannot walk RIGHT without it, why wouldn't you accept the one crutch that is made by the very best crutch maker?
There are indeed many folks that don't care to serve the Lord, and that is too bad.. God did give us free will. He never gave us any garentee that life would be perfect, but I know he has been there with me giving me peace through it all, and even if i never see Him, which I will, it has been worth it to believe.. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen..

First, the Bible Describes the Big Bang in full detail. Word for word it is ALMOST exactly as the scientific theory, except the bible said it 6,000 years ago!
Now, dwell on that one!
First, Science says the MASS of the UNIVERSE is CONSTANT. MASS (basically matter and energy) is forever. It has alwasy been here and always will be in virtually the same amount.
God is forever. God has always been here. God always will be here.
Notice a similarity?!
Science can't explain nor never tries to, as to where all the MASS came from. It's "free hydrogen" atoms and other things, floating around.
It's always been here and always will be here.
That's given.
Same with religion. God has always been and always will be. That's a given.
In the beging there was darkness. Then there was light (the big bang) and all the stars and planets formed. And as the planets became fixed in their orbits DAY and NIGHT began to happen. And there was nothng but sea (primordial fluid) on the Earth and it receded and the land appeared.
Where things change is that the Bible says God created man from the DUST of the EArth with a breath of life from God.
Darwin says we evolved from the oceans and came onto land.
Now, here's the clincher.
NO scientist has even take primordial slush (amino acids and other things) put them into a flask, shaken them up and produced ONE virus nor ONE single cell orgnaism.
NO scientists has been able to create life out of chemicals.
Yet, supposedly, this happened RANDOMLY without any GOD or any MAN or any SCIENTIST.
The stuff just globbed together and made you. Well, that's an over simplfication. It made a viruss. It made a PRotazoa and from that it became a fish a frog, a cat, a monkey and then you came from Monkey.
Chimps are said to have 97 to 99% of your DNA. MAn mutated from chimps? In enough quanity to make a race?
How come Chimps don't mutate anymore?
How come ONE animal out there doesn't spaw a mutation that's so redicatlly different it speaks.
Yet Chimps, over a period of 200 years or so, created vast qualitties of mutations and those mutations mated and became us, but chimps no longer mutate today!
Wow, that's amazing!
Science can't explain why we don't find hundreds of fossiles of these pre-humans.
It would take millions to spawn us!
Chimps mutate to Cro-Magon, Cro-Magnon mutate to something else. Eventually we come along.
Why are there no Cro-Magnon mutations anymore?
Science side steps that one, just like they side step WHERE DID ALL THE MASS IN THE UNIVERS COME FROM.
Theser are just nice thoughts by learned people who mean well, but it is NOT yet reality and MAY never be reality!
Science may one day say Darwin was totally wrong and foolish!
They say that about Sigmund Freud, who invented psychiatry as we know it today, but none of his theorys are correct!
At one point in Time Freud was all there was! In 1935 the Freudians were in charge of the insane aslymums. Today they are laughed at!
That is the reality of science.
Newton's Laws are laws. Laws can't be broken! Opps, Einstein creates Relativity and Newton's laws don't work there in the same way or at all!
Sorry Newton! We broke your laws!
So now they are Newtonian Laws that only apply to the NEwtonian universe!
Get the point!
Science is nice, just bring your umbrella for no matter what the weather scientist says, you might need it!

You don't ask for much do you. a complete history of everything would take up to much space.
But there is not much difference between the Big Bang theory and the bibles saying that when God created the physical world that we live in He spoke a word. What would that word be and what would it sound like.
As to where God came from. you could use the precreation verses form the Torah and the bible. in the begining there was only chaos and something was able to create order out of this chaos and became known as (the Self created one) or (The Creator of All Things) in most early religions.
the next ones are harder to answer. Some have a built in closer relationship with their souls(that are sparks of the creator that the spun off of its self for company) that others. the others might not have stopped to think and wonder why. and just live from one day to another.
The crutch is needed because the church preaches shame and fear instead of the real teachings of the CHRIST of hope and life everafter.
also the Catholic Church has left out many older book that would fill in the story as beening nonconicol.

Well I'm a Christian that doesn't have an issue with the 'Big Bang" theory. Divine spark man. Different strokes for different folks, we are not all the same but more similar than different. It is not a crutch to me but a reality -there is a God, just as Atheism is for you -there is not a God. On autopsy I doubt much difference would be found in our brain make up. Spirituality is not just physical like a atom or particle it is beyond it. The belief of a God or gods\goddesses are also beyond the physical and current scientific explaination and that belief across cultures has been around as long as records have been kept oral and written. In my lineage of belief, God is and was always there eternally.

I read you aren't Christian but I am and as a Christian I know that God has always existed and if the big bang happened I know that it was God who allowed the big bang to happen. I could ask you the same question. Why is it that scientists believe that the existence of God is far fetch? and please, no theories. I think that to say that we were all here because of the big bang is silly...where did the gases and everything else that supposedly caused the big bang come from? It is easier to accept that we were created by God for a purpose rather than believe that we just appeared. Now again???where did the stuff that caused the big bang come from???? And where did that come from??? and so on and so on....It is easier to accept and believe that it was God who did it and He was always here.

I will not say that I know the answer to some of your questions. However, faith in GOD is no more a "crutch" as is faith in a "big bang theory". If you are a scientist or know scientist, you can ask whether theories can eventually be disproven with further research.
I have this theory of my own, and that is "ALL people are stupid". Now, I am NOT trying to be insulting. I am including myself in this group. This is just from casual observations of the things people do. You may agree or disagree. But, my point is, I don't put very much trust in people, whether they are doctors airline pilots, etc. People have tendencies to make mistakes(often stupid mistakes).
Is it a crutch to believe in something greater than you or I?

Being a Christian is a whole lot more than reading a Bible!!! You have to admit...the big bang theroy is IMPOSSIBLE to be!!! Everything has to come from somewhere. Which is where God comes into play for a Christian. We know of Jesus for many reasons. One, We found tons of old scriptures written down buried and dirty torn apart and we humans pieced it together. They all talk about the same things and the same people. Thus came the Bible. The Bible people say someone wrote it...YEAH RIGHT!!!!!!!! One person to write more than 1000 pages or so in like 6 font!!! The bible relys on all places of the world...none are made up and its been going around for millions upon millions of years. The Bible talks about the Egyptians... and we found paintings and stuff there from Egyptians!!! Cavemen, dinousars, EVERYTHING!!!! WE also found the exact cross to which they say Jesus died. I could go on and on but that would take a long time. I hope my answer has helped you clear your mind and if this writer is struggling in faith or anyhone else who reads this I hope that if they have any questions to please email me!!! I would LOVE to answer anyone's questions or help them with any hard times. please email me!!! let God go through your life and help you and spread the word for our generation! God bless you all!!!!!!!!! (Nicole Age 12 and a STRONG BELIEVER!!!)

I believe in the big bang theory! but I believe that God created the bang by speaking everything into existence.. I figure at this point, I have lost you.. you have stopped reading, but if you really want to know what I think you will continue..
God didn't come from anywhere, he has always been. (from everlasting to everlasting) only humans are confined by time, God isn't, he created time for you and me. yet it's hard to comprehend with the human mind. and for somethings in life there is no scientific explanation.
we need to feel a higher power, this was created into us by God, we all were born with a need to worship someone or something. for some people it's God that fills that "need" for some it's money or power.. and the list goes on for miles. that need was put there to draw us to God. just like all of us was born with a "need" to be "loved".. or "wanted".
I don't call believing in God a crutch, he isn't a controlled substance he is the creator.
you don't have to believe in God (that is your choice), but he still believes in you.

because no one has answered this question fully, i will.
1: some christians do accually believe that God created the world by using evolution (i don not believe this, i believe in the 7 day creation as it says exactly in the Bible)
2:God is eternal. He is God. we cannot understand eternity. if you want to try, go for it, but make sure you have a bag of ice. if your head over heats, you'll be ready.
3: scientific explanaition for God's enternity? sorry, not going to happen. if we could explain God, He wouldn't be God. its majestic, i know.
4:i believe everyone can physically live their own life without faith, but not spiritually. oh yeah, without faith, have fun after you die. hell...its hot. really hot.
5: crutch? more like a wheelchair. with Jesus as my personal saivor and FRIEND, He helps me through. sometimes He even picks both feet up. wonderful. i love it.
6: wanna take a deeper look at my belief in Jesus as my savior? go for it. my AIM is ChazaqPur. (please do not abuse my AIM)
