When a person is being kept alive artificially, his body is still functioning but the brain is not since there are no brain waves or activity. What happens to his soul during this period? Do you think that maybe it hovers somewhere between his body and wherever it's final destination may be?

Ok this is pretty spiritual but I know this because I watched my grandma go through something like this she was diagnosed with Lymphnoma Cancer and the last 2 weeks of her life she would take what we thought were naps and one day my mom was checking on her and she woke up and my mom asked her how was your nap? She replied I wasn't sleeping! I have heard that the spirit will linger above the body and they will have an out of body experience. She died a horrible painful death she fought with every last bit she had. When they embalmed her the doctor ended up having to open her stomach and told my mom that he had no idea how she made it as long as she had because every last organ she had had been eaten up by cancer. She died 9 years ago July 31!! May she rest in peace!! The final destination would be heaven the place where the Lord reigns the most beautiful place you could ever imagine!!

I think a person's soul pretty much has free reign. Sure the soul inhabits the body but it surey doesn't always stay there through out your whole lifetime.
That is why some people experience OBE or lucid dreaming. Your soul can visit other places and sometimes you mind gets to go and see what it is doing.

It is "responsible" for your body and maybe even the keeper of your body.
When a person is dying or in a vegatative state the soul comforts the body by taking the mind with it on wherever it may go. There are thousands of stories of people coming out of comas only to tell about the most amazing things they went and saw. When the body finally dies the soul has no reason whatsoever to return to that useless shell and we are ultimately free.

The soul resides between the pineal and pituatary gland above the hypothalamus in the human brain .

When the person is declared is brain dead the soul could be trapped there if the person was a basic [ tamasic ] person and leave the body / tour the spiritual world or tour the God's abode and bask in the golden light of the Father .

I believe that the soul is the mind and it's the body's software which only functions wile it's animate with the breath of life. Just like you need hardware and electricity for software to work. Then we die I believe our "software" remains dorman until God resurrects us and only he can because the breath orginiated from him and was passed down to us from Adam (the first man). Satan can maquerade as dead loved ones. When we resurrect, it will either be to eternal life or no life at all (your software is deleted from God's hard drive). Like when you're naughty on cyberspace, your account can be cancelled! Hell comes from heaven and restores the Earth. The evil doers become ashes below th saints' feet. all good atheists will get to trapple the hypocrites literally....sort of, they don't actually feelit, but they'll sure feel hell!

When you die, there is no sense of time. At resurrection you would think you just died a second ago.

Your brain is a big mass of energy, and energy never dies. The energy is your soul. So your soul never dies. I think it just stays in your head until your body dies. When your body dies, your energy is released. Your energy/soul will always remain here. Think of this...when a loved one has recently passed and you get that weird kind of feeling like you're not alone....I think that energy is what causes that feeling.

I believe that no matter the condition of the body, the spirit (or soul) is still with it, but after the body is physically unable to sustain itself with or without machines the spirit leaves.

soul doesn't exist except in the cerebral spinal fluid floating for freedom with a high shutter speed, some believe soul can actually be seen at the right moment.
