"Ye who believe! Murder those of the disbelievers." Sura 9:123

Are Muslems peaceful or are they not? If a Muslem followed the exact teachings of the Koran could they be a person of peace?
Does the Koran actually mean to "murder disbelivers" or should Sura 9:123 be taken another way?
I am truly seeking answers. Any would be helpful.

Everyone thank you for the answers.
To extend my question: The US supports Israel and, from what I understand, Muslems say that Israel is in their land. Would it not be a reasonable thought to say that a holy war could be declaired on the US and that declairaction could be supported by the Koran? Wouldn't all Muslems be required to fight against the US? Wouldn't that be classified as self-defense?

the AL-QURAN says that when we were surrounded by the non believers we can fight them but the AL-QURAN do not says that we must kill them. the words mean fight not kill. now do you understand.The sura 5:54 does'nt even say's about jew's or christian,I've check it already.The Quran mean of sura 4;89 that if a non believer try to control a Islamic Empire and try to make all it's people to be apostate.Sura 8:39 continuition is,"If they stop,(to launch war at Muslim),then Allah see whatever they do."This mean that to fight the non believer untill they didn't attack us(Muslim)

This was told for the traitors, idol worshipers and those who may harm the believers for preaching, to worship the one God. Wars were never fought in offense, it was always in defense.
It is really upto one as to how to take it. If you believe in one God, this may all sound so reasonable to you, but if you have a totally bias opinion about Islam then, it will make you look at the verses in a completely different aspect. Islam never says to kill people without a cause.

Beware!

Anyone that does not have the Spirit of God and that has been indoctrinated by the quran is going to come up with rationalizations to try and spin it into a good light.

They are always on the defensive!

The words that come from the quran are spurious ideas that Muhammed made up to qualify the narcissistic nature of his sinful character!

The knowledge of Christ was given to Muhammed but he chose to reject the truth!

Anyone who accepts the truth, {Jesus}, can test all things and know what is not from God!

Colossians 2:2-4
............................... may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ,

In whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments.

2 Corinthians 10:5
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

Even just plain common sense tells us that whatever comes out of a Child Molester's mouth, {Mohammed's}, is less than credible.

Also, it is wise to listen to the One that has "Never Sinned",{Jesus}, versus someone, {Muhammed}, who murdered people and robbed caravans for a living!

I ran for the time of the same confusion even as i began studying it. some believe it ability precisely that, others i could say, believe it truly is an admonishment tochronic out those who could attack you, scouse borrow your residences and sources alongside with killing you. Even the bible is complete of double meanings depending upon how one needs to interpret it. Literal translations are risky even as coupled with concern and hate! What you aspect out, to me looks better like a troublesome fought protection adverse to invaders, no longer visitors or those residing in overseas lands!

If one is truly acting out the Koran and being, in essence, a "good Muslim," then, as you've given excellent evidence for yourself, no way that they are a truly peaceful person when it comes to disbelievers. Read Sam Harris' "The End of Faith" for a more elaborate explanation of the dangers of the Muslim (and in fact, any) blind faith.

I find nothing wrong there even though you chose to display half truth.Its a gimmick.

Newspapers does that all the times.

When people are attracted to the headlines,they will want to read the whole articles.

thank you about asking quran in sincere way.. as you have posted lots of questions,, lets take one verse at a time ,,, sorry for the long post,, but this is necessary as to answer all the questions,,we need to read with whole context. you have written half verses ,, and thats not fair .

=========================

2:191

_________________________________________________

them ?? who is them, did you hear non-muslims here ? it could be bugs! what is this "And" here.?

_______________________________________________

SURAH 2:193
Islam-critics usually apply "cut and choose" approach with regards to this verse. They only quote: "And slay them wherever ye catch them…" (2:191). However, let us be brave enough to read the whole passage in context from 2:190-195:

"Fight in the cause of God those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for God loves not transgressors. And kill them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out; for persecution and oppression are worse than slaughter; but fight them not at the Sacred Mosque, unless they (first) fight you there; but if they fight you, kill them. Such is the reward of those who reject faith. But if they cease, God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in God; but if they cease, let there be no hostility except to those who practice oppression. The prohibited month, for the prohibited month, and so for all things prohibited, there is the law of equality. If then any one transgresses the prohibition against you, transgress ye likewise against him. But fear (the punishment of) God, and know that God is with those who restrain themselves. And spend of your substance in the cause of Allah, and make not your own hands contribute to (your) destruction; but do good; for Allah loveth those who do good." (Quran 2:190-195)

The verse clearly states to fight those who fight you, yet do not transgress limits. In so sense therefore does it promote killing of innocent but allows self-defence. It further goes on to state "And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice" and "if they cease, let there be no hostility except to those who practice oppression". Hence, once again when the whole context is examined the verses does not promote killing of innocent in anyway.

Notice : and turn them out from where they have turned you out;

This could only be in reference to the people of mecca at that time who had killed them, murdered them, slaughter them, driven them out, put sanctions against them. But Allah put limits to Muslims, that If they stop, you should stop.

“If they leave you alone and offer to make peace with you, God does not allow you to harm them.” (QURAN 4:90)

================================

surah 4:89

=============

Once again the context is ignored, they don't quote previous and next verses.

(Quran 4:89-91) "They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them; and (in any case) take no friends or helpers from their ranks;- Except those who join a group between whom and you there is a treaty (of peace), or those who approach you with hearts restraining them from fighting you as well as fighting their own people. If Allah had pleased, He could have given them power over you, and they would have fought you: Therefore if they withdraw from you but fight you not, and (instead) send you (Guarantees of) peace, then Allah Hath opened no way for you (to war against them). Others you will find that wish to gain your confidence as well as that of their people: Every time they are sent back to temptation, they succumb thereto: if they withdraw not from you nor give you (guarantees) of peace besides restraining their hands, seize them and slay them wherever ye get them: In their case We have provided you with a clear argument against them"

=====

When we read it in context, verse 4:89 is NOT to those "who join a group between whom and you there is a treaty (of peace), or those who approach you with hearts restraining them from fighting you as well as fighting their own people." This verse is only referring to those "withdraw not from you nor give you (guarantees) of peace besides restraining their hands".

REGARDIN JEWS AND CHRISTIANS AS FRIEND.. PLEASE CHECK THE REFERENCE OF THE VERSE.. THATS NOT CORRECT REFERENCE..ITS 5:64 NOT 5:54

Let me give you the complete verse.

QURAN 5:64
The Jews say: "(Allah)'s hand is tied up." Be their hands tied up and be they accursed for the (blasphemy) they utter. Nay, both His hands are widely outstretched: He giveth and spendeth (of His bounty) as He pleaseth. But the revelation that cometh to thee from Allah increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion and blasphemy. Amongst them we have placed enmity and hatred till the Day of Judgment. Every time they kindle the fire of war, Allah doth extinguish it; but they (ever) strive to do mischief on earth. And Allah loveth not those who do mischief.

Allah’s curse on those Jews who utter such words like “"(Allah)'s hand is tied up”. Don’t you consider this blasphemy. How dare they utter such words against the almighty God and limits the all-powerful. Allah curse them for what they utter from their mouth . Ofcourse Allah gives punishment who speaks such an insulting words for God and does not repent. Allah is refuting their statement in this verse. He replies , “He giveth and spendeth (of His bounty) as He pleaseth.”

I ASK YOU A QUESTION. DON’T YOU CURSE THOSE WHO UTTER SUCH WORDS AGAINST GOD?

The verse continues “……Every time they kindle the fire of war, Allah doth extinguish it; but they (ever) strive to do mischief on eart And Allah loveth not those who do mischief.

This verse is not talking about all Jews. Allah will also reward some Jews and Christian mentioned in the next verse i.e. QURAN 5:65

I DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU FEEL WRONG IN (QURAN 5:64). PLEASE READ THE QURAN AND DON’T JUST RELY ON FALSE WRITTEN PROPAGANDA BY SOME ANTI-ISLAMIC SOCIETY.

=====================================
REGARDING FIGHTING WITH DISBELIVERS,, QURAN CLEARLY SAYS THAT

“Permission to fight is given to those on whom war is made, because they are oppressed. And surely Allah is able to assist them; those who are driven from their homes without a just cause except that they say, ‘Our Lord is Allah’.” (QURAN 22:39-40)

And fight in the way of Allah with those who fight with you, but do not aggress; Allah does not love the aggressors. (Quran 2:190)

ALLAH SAYS THAT DONT BE AFRAID FROM THOSE WHO WAGE WAR AGAINST YOU. AND DRIVE YOU OUT OF YOUR HOME.

THESE VERSES REFERS TO SELF DEFENCE.

THE TEACHINGS OF QURAN IS VERY CLEAR.

=======================

"On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our apostles with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land. (The Noble Quran, 5:32)"

"Allah loves not the mischief makers" Quran 5:64

"But if the enemy incline towards PEACE, do thou (also) incline towards peace, and trust in God: for He is One that heareth and knoweth (all things). (The Noble Quran, 8:61)"

“If they leave you alone and offer to make PEACE with you, God does not allow you to harm them.” (QURAN 4:90)

"But if the enemy incline towards PEACE,do thou (also) incline towards PEACE and trust in Allah:for he is the one that beareth and knoeth (all things)". {8:61}.

"But Allah doth call to the home of PEACE:He doth guide whom He pleaseth to a way that is straight." {10:25}

"and the servants of Allah Most Gracious are those who walk on the earth in humility and when the ignorant address them ,they say,PEACE". {25:63}

"But turn away from them, and say PEACE But soon shall they know." {43:89}

"Allah does not forbid you from showing kindness and dealing justly with those who have not fought you about religion and have not driven you out of your homes. Allah loves just dealers. (The Noble Quran, 60:8)"
