To the point of where you don't have any more random thoughts come in your head unintentionally or stray if ya call it.

Get involved with something you really like to do and hate to stop. I like to create brochures, forms, etc., on the computer and turn off the world. My son gets lost under the hood of a car, my daughter gardens for hours, etc. You can only think of one thing at a time so make sure it is positive.

Wow, that is a good question, and I'm afraid that there is no one single answer. I used to have no control whatsoever.
The first thing to realize is that worry and stress are the enemies of a still mind. Worrying may give you an illusion of control, but it really only aggrevates it, and the cycle continues.
Second, someone once told me: ("Stress? No, you don't have stress. Now, the guy in the jungle who's getting chased by a tiger? HE has stress. You don't.")
What he was trying to tell me is that, unless you are stuck in a jungle, a war, or outer space, you probably have a lot of control over the things that are bothering you. "Stress" is usually the result of unfinished business. Stress is simply another word for procrastination.
Living right is thus the key. It is a better way to have control over your thoughts, to have real peace of mind. Drinking and drugging are only a temporary solution to a permanent problem. Live right, starting now. Make your amends and apologies. If you are holding a grudge against someone, be it big or small, let it go right now and forgive that person. Take pity on them, and try to see their perspective. If you believe in any sort of God or Supreme Being, prayer may be very effective.
These things will work more than any amount of therapy or psychiatric drugs ( in a vast majority of cases). I'm not knocking these avenues of self-help; it's just that inner peace begins with you, and is a matter of being at peace with yourself, as well as your past.

First, I want to acknowledge the "Brave Dog", El Perro Bravo. His answer very good. Add to it my answer to your other question on this subject and the thought of Eastern Meditation. Even the Llamas of Tibetan Buddhists can not keep their minds controlled when not meditating. They have more control that other non-mediators but not yet perfect. The most harmful thought s you seem to have is your worry about your thoughts.

No one ever reaches that point. You simply have to accept the fact that you're not perfect and that no else is either. The same crazy thoughts that you have ,someone else has also ( no matter how crazy, sad, weird or disgusting they are). People usually aren't honest enough with each other or too worried about how someone else will view them to admit it.

Maybe there is some kind of medication your doctor can prescribe for you to concentrate. Sounds like you have a problem focusing.
