Good question, and hard to answer. I recently had to face that. I prayed that God's will be done in a personal relationship, and I really didn't like how it turned out. I am trying to accept it, but it's really hard sometimes. I tell myself that "God knows best", but it's still not always easy.

Yes, it has absolutely no power. You may as well pray to the sun, at least you can see the things that the sun does everyday. It alll comes down to this, you either will get your prayer answered, or you won't, either way it is the lords will that is done. So why even ask this question? Shouldn't all prayers end this way? Now on the other hand, if you pray to the sun to make it warm tommorrow, and to make your plants grow, you may actually see some results. Give it a shot.

Thy will be done means live in his image. God will do his will regardless of whether you pray for it or not. They wiil be done means "use me as your vessel to lead a good life, here on Earth as it is in Heaven" Do you even know what you are asking. Please you think God needs your permission? Thy Will be Done means I will live a good life and follow the laws you have set for me. You really need to think about the way things are written. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John all said the same thing in different ways. The reason there are so many different denominations is because people INTERPRET things to mean what they want them too with out any regards to the way things were spoken in those times. I have full faith in God and that he knows what is best for the world and my family. If my husband and children died for the greater sake of something else then so be it. Remember, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son and those who believith in him shall not perish but have ever lasting life" John 3:16. God made the ultimate sacrifice of his only son for the world. We should be as unselfish and loving.

Remember the story of Abraham and Isaac? God was testing his Abraham's faith in God. Abraham was about to kill his only son, Isaac, when God stopped him, and said that he had passed the test.

Also, there is no 'format' of prayer that makes it more powerful than others, or anything you can say to make your prayer better. Also, saying 'thy will be done,' is just saying that God should do what he wants, and that was just going to happen anyway. He doesn't need our approval. This is just another way of saying that we will accept any decision or action that God makes in our lives.

We need to realize that God is God and He can do whatever he wants!
We always should pray that Gods will be done in every situation!

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

You should mean it or do not pray it. Our purpose here is not our own. We are here at His choosing. It is His will, not our will that must be doen. All power to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. I give my life, my love, my all. Amen.

I have no control over what God does. He has a plan for everyone. When it is your time to go you have no choice. I put my trust and Life in Gods hands every day. What will be will be.

You opened my eyes when I read the statement. By saying "Thy will be done" actually means that we give ourselves completely to God's will.
