This is a *VERY* hard question to answer. Some states allow you to have a loaded gun in a vehicle while others (California as an example) do not. You can get a good idea of some of the gun laws by visiting places like www.packing.org for details. Before you take *ANY INTERNET ADVICE* as golden, I would check DIRECTLY with the law enforcement (or Attorney Generals) office of each state you plan on traveling to to avoid being arrested. A better suggestion would be for your dad to obtain a Concealed Weapons Permit (CCW) also known as a Concealed Pistol License (CPL). A permit can be obtained from many states even as a non-resident. Florida is probably the most popular. Even living in another state you can apply for a FL CCW. With this CCW you are able to carry legally in *MANY* states via reciprocity agreements. Again, get some info via the net, but VERIFY everything with the actual government agency for the areas you travel. Laws change constantly and I'd hate to see someone risk their freedom based on internet advice!

In Kentucky you can have a loaded gun in your glove box. But, if you have a concealed weapons permit then I would say go to your states government website and see if they are reciprocal with the states you are going to travel through and if not then look at each states web site they will let you know.
