You need to find out what is causing the pain. Heat may help. Also , ibuprofen (Motrin/Advil) if you are not allergic will help. Go to the doctor.

Take an OTC anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen or aleve, and lie down as much as possible. It might help to put a pillow under your back to keep it straight. I had a bulging disc, and found that a heating pad helped with the muscle spasms, but a vibrating massager made it worse. When you sit up in bed, turn on to your side first, then push yourself up with your arms--don't try to sit straight up. If the pain isn't mostly gone within 24 hours, go to the doctor.

Temporary fixes: hot tubs, ben gay, a massage. Lying on your back, hugging your kness, and rolling from side to side with your lower back tight against the floor aso helps.
You should check with a doctor though and maybe a physical trainer. It could be your posture, but you could have sciatic nerve pain, or something in your spine.

See a doctor, if pain is accompanied with tingling of feet, legs etc., could signify a pinched nerve, could also indicate slipped disk, compressed disk etc.

Be seen by a doctor who may refer you to a neurosurgeon or back specialist.

In the interim, heating pad applied to affected area, medium heat rotated with low heat, Advil extra strength OR Robaxicin (may likely make you tired, don't drive, drink or work with equipment that could hurt you)

Good luck

Visit a chiropractor and see if they are able to help with the cause of othe pain. They may suggest that you continue to take the meds given to you by the doctor to relax muscles and to help you with the pain.

If there is loss of sensation, foot drop, urine/bowel loss, go to the ER it is an emergency.

If not, then
1. Ice it
2. Take a pain pill starting with low dose antiinflammatories that you can tolerate
3. go see your doctor tomorrow

do not mess around with that!!!! go to the doctor, i ended up in surgery b/c i kept working , and other things... thinking it would "go away" or get better. sometimes it does, but on the off chance that it doesn't.... the more damage you do in the mean time. some of which could be permanent.
