for me i could immediately tell i had ankles, but it took about a week before i was able to comfortably wear shoes, and another week or so before they stopped swelling enough to feel fat. my right ankle LEG was really bad for the last 3 months, they said it was because she was laying off to one side so i don't know how it would have really been.

I had preeclampsia in both pregnancies, and by the 8th month I literally could not wear any shoes. Not even my husband's flip flops or Tevas. I was almost grateful for bedrest in that respect!

But the swelling goes down pretty quickly after birth. I was wearing my own shoes (big ones) about a week later, and pretty quickly thereafter I felt totally normal.

Took awhile for me, try eating some extra potassium, it helps with the swelling.
