No recognized religion is inherently evil. What people choose to do using the name of a religion can be. The root of most of this evil is really a desire for power and has nothing to do with the base teachings of whichever religion they purport to follow.

Some religion is evil. That's why people are confused. If they study the history of the popes they will clearly see evil. Satan want to confuse people. He wants to turn them away from God. That's why he makes counterfeit religions.

There is no acceptable answer other than the affirmative - religion is evil, and the root cause of suffering of humans the world over. Spirituality in its pure form would shine thru altrustic selfless actions, rather than dogma driving crazies to firebomb abortion clinics and scream "Allah-o-Akbar" and slit a person's throat.

Religion can be evil because it is made up and progressed and processed by men (humans)--SPIRITUALITY is not- its what we are all here for. If more of us concentrated on growing our own spirit (soul) instead of everyone elses- (if thats what you want to call shoving our beliefs on others and force-feeding our children on our beliefs instead of opening up overall knowledge and letting them choose) then wouldn't the world just be a nicer calmer place? Think about it? Did any of history's religious leaders actually EVER teach hate or warmongering? Doubt it....

religion is not necessarily evil. at times mans perception and actions makes things turn out to be evil. however, religion at times contradict with teaching it have, that makes confusion and man interpretes it in a different manner. we could not actualy say that religion is evil coz its only a perception......

Religion is a man-made effort hoping to get closer to heaven. But the truth is, Religion WILL NEVER save us from going to HELL! It is the true salvation from our Lord Jesus Christ...Just believe in Him, confess with your mouth that He is the Lord, and follow Him!
