Stray thoughts meaning thoughts that come up unexpectedly or unwanted and disappear. I was wondering what's normal and what's not. Multiple responses please!

I don't mean hallucinations or things like that though.

Regardless of their "origin", all thoughts are your own. Your mind is a very complicated series of interconnected cells. First of all, your mind in found in every cell of your body. We think of it as being in your brain but that's because the brain has the highest concentration of cells. You learn in Eastern meditation practices to handle those "stray" thoughts by acknowledging them without giving them importance. You do this by saying to your self, "That was a thought". That's it. If you dwell on them or worry about them you give them life, power and status. If you try to ignore them, you will empower them by the fact that it takes thought to ignore something. My favorite excersise to prove this is:
For the next 15 seconds, DO NOT THINK OF A WHITE RABBIT. Times up. How did you do? You failed! Now when a picture of a white rabbit comes in your mind, acknowledge it by saying to your self,"That's a thought". What happened as compared to when you tried to banish the rabbit?
Wild thoughts are natural, don't worry about them. GOD did say your impure thoughts were sins because GOD does not recognize sin. The concept of sin was originated by man to scare you into attending their church. Want proof? Hang on, I'm about to destroy most religions.
GOD created you, top to bottom, left to right. GOD knows everything you will do and won't do, right? Here it comes, if GOD wanted you to be perfect, according to the present prevailing mores, you would have been created that way, you weren't. If GOD wanted the sky red, is there anyway the sky could be blue? If GOD wanted you to follow some religions concept of perfection, is there anyway you could not be such? If religion's concept of proper life style were also GOD'S concept of a proper life style, could you live any other way? If we are given free will to decide for ourselves, which we are, and a wrong choice would send us to an non existant place called hell, then you must assume GOD did not know of our choice before we came here. Is that possible? No!
If I give you free will and tell you that you can eat of that tree or not, which ever you choose of your own free will, then add the proviso that if you choose to eat of it, I'll toss your butt in everlasting fires of hell, HAVE I GIVEN YOU FREE WILL? NO! The fears your are experiencing regarding your thoughts were put there by preachers unable to keep their congrgations together by intellegent conversation and the must resort to fear tactic. By the way, You were created perfect as you are because GOD don't create junk. I realize there are some we would natuurally consider junk but thst is too involved for here.

Sounds like you are talking about invasive thoughts or ruminations. Some invasive thoughts are normal, but when they interfere with your normal thought process or become obsessive, it could be a sign that something is wrong. If in doubt, check with a mental health provider.

It sounds pretty normal to me, as long as the thoughts don't seem to be coming from "outside," and you're not hallucinating. But if you hear voices or have thoughts that don't seem to be your own, you should go to the doctor.

The subconcious mind is always thinking even when your ID's are constant. Your concious mind makes the decisions and so keep it all in perspective when you feel that your subconcious is ruling.

This is the reason so many people forget what they were going to get, before they get to where it is. Thought interference.!
