if the milk is only a little soured, it should be ok. but the consistency of buttermilk is a little bit thicker, and it has a distinct flavor, so unless you want to change the taste quite a bit, I wouldn't use soured milk. But it won't hurt if it's not curdling.

It shouldnt hurt...but if the recipe calls for buttermilk...just try sourcream or vanilla yogurt (yeah i know it sounds gross but it does exactly the same thing to the biscuits or whatever you are trying to make). Also if you add a bit of lemon juice to the soured milk then it just like buttermilk. Hope this helps and good luck with the biscuits!!!

Using sour milk would not be dangerous since you are going to bake it at a high heat; however, using buttermilk should create the same taste, maybe an even better one. If you don't want to buy the buttermilk, use the same quantity of milk and add 1 tsp. of vinegar. Happy baking!

Yes it is ok to use. Just keep it refrigerated and use only in biscuits. You might want to label the container so no one accidentally drinks out of it. It's very close to buttermilk, but doesn't have quite the same flavor that buttermilk biscuits do.

I accidentally left a new gallon of milk in my locked car windows up and 95 degrees for about 4 hours. People I asked said no problems. I've used milk as many as 14 days after the "sell by" date. If it "smells" bad don't use it. Or put a small amount about an inch deep in a bowl and see if it tries to get solid. I used milk I thought was fine in my cereal. Then I noticed the liquid milk was not liquid any more, so I ended that cereal bowl and got new milk. Since you will cook these pancakes the "heat" should make the milk fine to use. Smell it or taste a little, you'll know it is bad.

I don't think using soured (spoiled) milk is the same as using buttermilk or milk with vinegar or lemon juice in it.
If you have no more milk, you can use mayonnaise or sour cream and some water. (I saw that on Paula Deen)
It makes the most delicious biscuits you ever put in your mouth!MOIST!

Yes! What do you think buttermilk is, but intentionally soured milk.

Ewwww. If you need buttermilk and don't have it, just add a little lemon juice to regular milk.

If it was raw (unpasteurized) milk, then yes. it's safe to use even if it soured. If it was grocery store pasteurized milk, then pour it out if it's soured, because it's SPOILED.
