How old do you really have to be to get Emancipated? and what all do you have to do?

It depends what state you live in. I believe the youngest you can be is 14 and that's in CA. I think it's 16 in most states.

I seriously considered filing for emancipation, but it's a lot of work and most judges will side with the parents except for in extreme circumstances. You have to prove that you are able to take care of yourself and your finances (you have to have a job), not to mention all the paperwork you have to do.

You must do it thru a lawyer. He will take your case before a judge. The judge is the only person who can emancipate you. But, even if he will not give you emancipation, he will help you. Maybe arrange for a friend or relative to take you in.
