GET A DEGREE IN CHEMICAL ENGINEERING and minor/concentrate in Biochem. It takes four years at a four year college and five at a college with COOP (I highly recommend COOP). Then if you feel like it you can get a master's in Biomedical engineering. With a general Chemical Engineering degree you can basically get hired for any job- NOT KIDDING! Chemical Engineers make about $80,000 to start (with COOP experience) and it only gets better. Be prepared to work your butt off though!

Biomedical engineering is very specialized, so there probably isn't as much of an audience. Pay is very good, but its not a job that you can take anywhere. You'll likely need to follow the job.
Do some searches for biomedical engineer salary on google to see what you get. Also, engineering degrees are very good lead-ins to advanced degrees in technical fields.

Biomedical engineering is a VERY large field. Are you referring to the field in which there is genetic engineering going on or the field which creates new medical equipment or the field that tries to cure cancer or any other disease. It is a wide term. I would assume that anytime you want to go into the medical field at any level, you will need to get a 4 yr degree and not one of those associate degrees that are sort of not a full degree. If you wish to go into the chemical end of biomedical eng. you would need to concentrate on chemistry and etc. They make a lot of money relatively speaking. It is clean and good work and very interesting.

Yah. I'm thinkin this really isn't the biomedical engineering crowd here.
If it helps any, I met a guy who went through med school, was paralyzed from the waist down in a basketball game, and redirected his career toward medical research to figure out a way to get out of the wheelchair.
Real bright guy, not hurting for cash--in fact other than the whole wheelchair thing, seems pretty happy.
If you like it, do it. If you don't, find something else. Sounds like you got the world at your feet either way.

BECAUSE INSTEAD I AM GOING TO REPLY TO WHAT YOU STATED ON MY BUMPER STICKER QUESTION AND EXPOSE HOW CRUEL OF A PERSON YOU REALLY ARE.
Let me tell you that my bumper sticker question was just that, a question..I never EVER expressed my opinion...IT WAS JUST A QUESTION...Yes, the stickers can be annoying but I also love children...Here is how you answered it. And by the way...for someone bragging about being an honor roll student, you sure did a great job spelling "jealous."
"i was an honor student and i always made my parents put the sticker on there. ur just jelous cause u werent an honor student and ur kids wont be either".....
Now here is my reply to you...did anyone ever mention to you to bite your tongue as you NEVER KNOW WHAT PEOPLE HAVE GONE THROUGH OR ARE GOING THROUGH IN THEIR LIFE?
My child who was about to enter Kindergarten was killed in a car accident...A drunk driver hit the car and killed her and my friend so you sweet little thing you...you are RIGHT...she will never have the chance to become an honor roll student. Also, the chance of me having children now are less than zero due to a cancer I had.
Do you fell better now? You probably do...

Just a guess, but judging from most of the genius answers on this website, I'm going to say there's not a lot of engineers online!

not an easy subject. agree with lindsay that if there aren't many on here, people don't know enough about the profession to answer the question or even make a joke about it. me? you could pay me $1000 and i still wouldn't be able to give you a good answer, sorry. i just don't know.
