I just had all four of my wisdom teeth taken out. How long do I have to keep the gauze in? In just hours after my surgery the bleeding has died down significantly. I even put tea bags in my mouth to help blood clots to form. If the gauze is mostly pink with some red, do I take that gauze out and not put another one. When I go to bed do I have to leave gauze in my mouth?

The longer you leave the gauze in, the better, but do not sleep with it, as this is dangerous. Once you have taken the gauze out to sleep, do not replace it in the morning. Yuo can take the gauze out to eat, but then replace it with fresh gauze after you are done eating.

Your description of the gauze being mostly pink with some red sounds like the bleeding has pretty much stopped, but I like to use gauze for several hours after an extraction. You have a good sized wound and the gauze is your only bandage. No need to rush things...

When you wake up, do not be alarmed to see some "blood" on your pillow. A single drop of blood mixed with saliva will give you a mouth full of "pinkness" and this is what trickles out onto your pillow.

If you just have some pink on the gauze it is ok to take it out and not replace it with a new one. You are going to have a little oozing from the clots themselves, but a little blood mixed with saliva can look like a lot. It sounds like you have done all the right things, don't be surprised if when you wake up in the morning you have blood on your pillow, that is completely normal. You are still going to taste blood for a day or so. But it sounds like you are doing just fine. No worries.

Just leave the gauze in until the bleeding stops. You shouldn't need them overnight if the bleeding has almost stopped already. Sleep with a wash cloth or something over your pillow cuz you will drool all night.

I would leave the gauze in your mouth during the night only if they will stay put. If you think they will fall out and cause a choaking risk... well don't do it.
I kept my gauze in until the bleeding stopped completely, aka about 2 days... and I slept upright the first night to avoid dislogging the gauze.
Call your doc if you have any questions.

Wait until it stops bleeding then you can remove it because the gauze is only to stop bleeding

your gonna wanna sleep with it in for atleast the night. put a towel over your pillow bcuz u will drool blood. and if the pain is as bad for u as t was for me..then i highly recommend you take your pain killers once when u wakeup and then like once when u wakeup from getting knocked out by the 1st pain killer.
