"Satan" is both a Hebrew and a Greek word meaning "accuser" (Hebrew) or "adversary" (Greek) in English.

In I Chronicles, Satan gets King David to take a census of Israel, against the instructions of Yahweh (the LORD).

In Job and Zechariah, Satan plays the role of prosecutor in the heavenly courtroom before Yahweh.

In the Gospels, Satan tempts Jesus, "enters into" Judas Iscariot, messes up people's plans, and makes people sick.

In Acts, Satan is presented as sort of the opposite of God and gets people to "lie to the Holy Spirit".

In the letters of Paul, Satan tempts people, schemes, disguises himself as an "angel of light", has a "messenger" who torments Paul, and destroys the human body (it doesn't say how).

In Revelation, Satan deceives the world.

"Lucifer" is a Latin word meaning "one who shines" or "bearer of light". It is found only in Isaiah 14:12, where it refers to the king of Babylon. I don't know the original Hebrew word, but it was translated into Latin as "lucifer". When the Latin Vulgate was translated into English, the translator didn't translate that word for some reason. It isn't a name, though it appears to be because it's a foreign word.

Satan is the best friend the church ever had; he has kept them in business all these years. Anton LaVey

Think about it - who lied in Genesis? God or satan? it was God, who said that you shall die "THIS DAY" if you eat the fruit. Satan simply said "no, you won't". So who told the lie? Who was the true deceiver? Satan gets a bad rap, I tell you. He thought it was pretty warped how God was denying the humans knowledge and life, so he told them about it.

There's always another side to any story. Learn to think for yourslef and we'll all be benefit.

Satan's mission is to tempt, distract, influence, and bring down all the souls of man to his level of evil because he had rebelled against God the Father's Plan of Salvation.

This became his consequence at his falling away and eventually he and his consorts of evil will reside forever in the torments of hell and outer darkness. Only he and those one third of the hosts of heaven that were cast out from God's presence will not have the privilege of having a mortal body. They will be in spirit form forever, and that is part of their damnation.

The key word is MISLEAD.

He misleads people.

Revelation 12:9 So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him.

Here is more about him:
