hi guys,
i've been wondering about how to transport my dog and how much it costs to do that.
How much is an airplane ticket? How much would a passport cost? Any other expenses which may apply if I want to transport a dog from Europe to NYC?

If you needed to know the regulations to transport a dog TO England from the US, I could give you all the info you would ever need. I am in the process of getting a Chihuahua ready to go to England (Glasgow, Scotland).
It should be a lot easier to ship to the US because England is a rabies free country, so you wont have to wait the mandatory 6 months. I am sure the required shots will be pretty much standard, all airlines will require a health certificate.
Most airlines will not allow you to have your pet as "carry on" on long international flights.
This is the site that covers all the regulations that cover import and export of live animals to and from the EU countries.
This site is a holy terror to navigate, it is like looking at an entire set of encyclopedias, your eyes (and brain) will be killing you before you get through it.
I really think a bunch of drunk lawyer got together and tried to see who could make the most confusing pages !!!!!!
Have fun:

Once you have specific questions concerning shipping, this is the quarantine email address, I have gotten real familiar with them over the last couple of months. They can answer all your questions.

Very few airlines transport pets. Each country is going to have it's own laws about bringing a pet in. Each country you visit will likely also have a quarantine period which will delay your trip. You'll need up to date vet records with all immunizations. Airline tickets will be expensive. I paid about $285 to ship a 10 lb puppy from Missouri to Michigan.

Good answers so far, also consider how the dog will be transported. Has he had all his shots?
How long will the dog be in the cargo hold before takeoff? The temperature increases on the tarmac and your dog may die of heat exhaustion before the plane takes off.
Many things to consider here. It may be worth leaving your dog behind, depends how long you will be away.

We transported 2 cats on United interior the passenger cabin on the airplane. i think of they take pets 20 lbs. or much less. you may placed them decrease than the seat in front of you. additionally, i presumed there became a definite section interior the shipment carry that became pressurized and temperature controlled for animals....that's truly useful to double verify the different airways. solid success!
