Unfortunately, my friends parents are the same way. They are super nice to strangers (me included), but I could hear them screaming at my friend from down the street. She moved out.
It sounds like your parents are being abusive. If that is the case, please get help. If you could all go to family counseling together, that would help, but only if they recognize that their parenting methods are harmful rather than helpful. Try talking to your parents when they aren't upset, and don't yell back if they yell at you. If this continues, you should not live with them. I know it would be scary to report them and live with someone else, but you should not live with people who scream at you and hit you. This is not healthy or normal, and it might get worse. Get help. Talk to your friend's mom, or a teacher, counselor, pastor, or someone else that you can trust.

if you are underage, this needs to be reported to the authorities, no one should be hit, NO MATTER WHAT THE CIRCUMSTANCES ARE. i know that if you have to do this it is going to be hard. is there someone that you can confide in? (grandparent, aunt, uncle, older cousin, a friends parent, school counselor) Try to talk to someone. you do not deserve to be hit, or screamed at. this is physical and verbal abuse. it needs to stop now before it gets out of hand.
if you are over 18, then you need to move out, go anywhere. it might not be the easiest thing either, but there are places that you can move to when you are abused, they might not be the best, but they are better then being abused.
you do not deserve this type of action, please do anything you can to remove yourself from the situation.

I think there would b something about your friend coming over that makes your parents the way they are obviously when he/she comes over.
of course ur parents cant be mean infront of your friend.
I would try sitting down with your parents, when your friend is not there, and keep calm and just discuss with them what issues they have.

if this is true really, they use your friend as an excuse to act out their anger toward you. they either see you as a disappointment and your friend reminds them of what they think you should be, or they like to embarass you in front of someone else to try to make a point to you, that they assume will affect you more than if you are alone with them. i hope this stage passes soon. try to keep your self esteem and realize they are human, and therefore, not flawless. they are wrong in doing this.
