I don't know.My teacher told me wearing school uniforms make you safe.I think it's unfair because you don't get to show your cool or pretty styles. If you don't want to show your clothes you can just wear a uniform.

My personal opinion on this matter is that the whole uniform in the school system restricts people from showing who they really are. I think this is crap. People these days are having hard enough times figuring out who they are, putting restrictions on them like this put them into a world where they will be unable to express themselves how they want to, in return people will be socially blocked from people who they have most in common with. We dress like those we hang out with. Style is a basic point of creativity, if you constrict this at school then what are you really teaching people? That everybody should be the same?
The world is full of beautifuly different people and I just think that they should have the right to express just how different they truly are ;)

I had to wear school uniform in elementary school in Los Angeles. LA! I thought that staying safe meant not wearing gang colors; reducing your odds of getting shot.
It's still about school violence except it's not much about gangs but weapons. Yes they're safe but you know they're good for other things too.
Low income students can blend in with the crowds, people rarely discriminate, students are more focused on studies, and you don't have to spend so much money on clothes!
I'm sorry but you go to school to get an education not to flaunt yourself. If this is your attitude now then what will happen to you after you graduate from high school? When you return for a class reunion you won't have great clothes without making a lot of cash and you'll live pay check to pay check without skills. Think about the future! Clothes mean nothing now.
Besides, I'm sure that you won't wear a uniform all day. For school events, shopping, or just about anywhere that you run into people they'll take notice of your stylish fashion.

I don't think it's unfair. Some students might not be able to afford "stylish" clothes. Plus, it will make you appreciate your own clothes more because you don't get to wear them as often. Anyway, when you do have to wear a uniform, you usually get those Casual Fridays when you can wear what you want.

I wish I had a high school uniform. The whole school girl thing is so hot.

In schools where gangs are rampant school uniforms help (somewhat) prevent gang violence.

I personally would love to have uniforms at my school. It would make my life so much easier and help me save money.

No one should be concerned about school uniforms, because you still get to wear your own clothes after school. Clothes aren't important. You can still show your personality without wearing whatever you want.

I've had this for many essay topics before, and I've always gone with the side that you've picked.

But if you think about it a little more... Uniforms are a lot safer. Plus, what you might consider "cool" or "pretty" might be considered "bad" or "ugly" by somebody else, and can be another way to classify people.

The school means education. It is a place for learning and not for fashion shows. Wearing of uniform is one way to inculcate discipline and decency among students. In implementing scholastic rules, everybody is call to abide and obey. If you dont like the rules, better dropout and enrol in a school that suits your needs. Go to a fashion or modeling school where you can brag and show off your wardrobe.

Wearing a uniform forces you to show your style in ways that have nothing to do with clothing. This helps build your personality.

I think all school should have uniforms: no discrimination for those who don't have the money to have a style ( they would feel less ashamed too), no discrimination for those who don't have a sense of style ( nobody to laugh at them), no one tends to form gangs for a "certain style only"....everybody is equal.

I got to admit...I didn't want uniforms when I was in school either, but I think it would be for the better.

I don't think it's unfair. It levels the playing field for the less fortunate who can't afford name brands. Trust me, there are ways you can still show your personality and style by accessorizing or changing how you wear the uniform.
