I currently own 2 quaker parrots. One talks up a storm to me. He can say his name, sing twinkle twinkle, step up, good boy, soup, and whistles and makes noises that I have been teaching him. The other one talks some but not as much. It all depends on how you raise them and how willing they are to learn. Mine are also handfed, very friendly (they are never in their cage because they like keeping my company) and will fall asleep with me on their own bed, which is next to mine. They are like my little dogs. And both of them are only 10 months old. Just work with yours, and maybe he will get talking.

I have a quaker and he talks all the time. Keep repeating your words that you want him to say if you want something specific. Otherwise, simply talk to him like a family member, he will have a conversation with you! My quaker has an extensive vocabulary. He repeats things that he hears....like the sound of a whistle on tv, my car blinker (when we go for a car drive), and even my husband and his friends cuss words!!!! He makes kissing sounds when my husband and I are in the same room, no matter if we kiss or not!!!

Actually most do. I have a Quaker parakeet named pickles, and he knows 200 words.

They are considered the 3rd best taling bird according to BIRDTALK magazine, right after the Double Yelloe Headed Amazon, and Congo African Grey Parrot.

Most Quakers dont learn to talk until they are 1-2 years old, amnd some never learn to talk, but love your bird anyway, I have never been disapointed by their atletic behavior, and fun loving personality.

I had a quaker and he learned about 20 words and a few phrases, I did work with him a lot, just kept repeating the same thing. He also made sounds of a door slamming, phone ringing and kissing.

They're very smart, just keep working with him!

Good luck!

I had a quaker when I was in middle school. He did learn to say his name and I love you, but it didn't go far beyond that.
