because so many people hate their lives, and it's an easy cop out , rather than to try to fix what is broken

People take drugs for a number of different reasons. Each person is different, and therefore there is no way to determine whether or not a person will take drugs.

Substance abuse usually begins rather early, in adolescents aged 12-18. Marijuana, tobacco, and alcohol are the most common substances used and abused by adolescents. Peer pressure, curiousity, and a need to feel accepted are common reasons why young people begin to use and abuse substances. Many of these individuals will progress into harder, more debilitating substances as they become acustomed to constant intoxication.

After a period of time, alcohol and marijuana will fail to produce a significant level of intoxication, and users will therefore have the urge to intensify their experience by using a number of other illicit substances (narcotics, cocaine, hallucinogens, etc.). This is often the result of a simple desire to lose oneself and forget about ones problems.

Myself, for instance, began using marijuana, alcohol, and tobacco at the ripe age of 14. Realizing that marijuana was not the demon that education had taught me it was, I began to doubt that other drugs were dangerous as well. This led to wide spread experimentation of almost every intoxicating substance imaginable.

A lack of self control, and a desire to simply live in the moment fueled my own descent into drug abuse and addiction. I cannot speak for everyone, but I believe that my views are shared by many others in simmilar situations to my own. People are addicted to drugs because they enjoy the experience they provide, and are unable to find a reason why this substance abuse is wrong.

No fool, i take "drugs" and i maintain an A and B average in college. The media is soo full of ****, marijuana will not ruin your life. More people lose lives due to alcohol abuse, but how many times do you see people a year dying from things like marijuana or magical mushrooms? none, thats how many. Leave us druggies alone, we like our lifestyle, so what harm are we doing you?

Also for the record, I HATE when people say things like "its sad the only way you can have fun is with drugs."
Ok man, the only way you can have fun is to play sports. Is there anything wrong with that? You do your thing, I do mine. END!

Because for some people this world is not enough and they want to experience feelings which are not available through any other forms and so they try it for fun and end up addicted and unless you've been addicted to something, you don't know what its like so its really unfair to judge and be like "oh well go to rehab" because its a whole lot more than that and its not as easy as some people think it may be

I think that they really need to see a doctor to be diagnosed and get prescription drugs. But they don't see the doctor and they end up turning to street drugs for there illnesses.

because they can (not nec. do) make you feel great and for the most part, drugs DON"T ruin your life. This really only happens to a small percentage of users who let it get out of control.
For many people, drugs actually enhance their lives.
