I myself suffer from inflammatory bowel disease, which sounds like what you have could possibly be either that or irritable bowel syndrome. You should go to see a gastroenterologist. Also, you should stop taking the Immodium. My doctor told me that that is one of the worst things that people do and it could make the problem worse. It should only be used in a situation where you need quick and temporary relief. You could try taking Fibercon. I thought my doc was crazy when she suggested that to me, but it also binds as well as regulates.
I'm not a doctor which is why I suggest that the first thing you do is consult with a gastroenterologist. I hope you feel better soon.

Hopefully your doctor did upper and lower GI tests, checked your gall bladder, and colonoscopy to find out why you've had diarrhea for 3 years. I would suggest that you take acidophilous or probiotics (get at health food store or even Wal-mart). This will re-establish the normal bacterial flora in your intestines. Chronic diarrhea will empty the bowel of the normal "good" bacteria in your bowel as well as "bad" germs that may be causing the diarrhea. It is the good germs that help "hold things together" and make normal bowel movements. Take the acidophilous or pro-biotics as soon as the diarrhea starts and continue to take it for a few days after it stops. You might consider taking it for a few weeks or a month and see if the diarrhea stops completely. Yogurt is supposed to help but most of the culture is killed in the processing and will not be that useful. Hope this helps.

Start recording everything you eat and your bowel habits. Find a different doctor, and get a second opinion. You may have Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I have a friend at church who has this problem and within just a few minutes of finishing a meal he has to go! He has learned what foods trigger it the worst and he stays away from them! Good luck. I know it is awful!

Ok, first adjusting your diet would help. Fiber and dairy products will help 'stiffen' things up a bit. Also, if you're going to work, it doesn't hurt to take an over-the-counter anti-diarheal medication to keep it in check until your more able to let it run. Good luck. P.S. It probably is stress.

Go see a Gastroenterologist, and if you already have go see another one!! It sounds like IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) or Chron's disease. Go seach some websites, print off a symptom check list and take it to the doctors. Web MD is a good site to go to also.

It sounds like you have a food allergy. Go to your doctor and ask to be tested for a gluten intolerance. I would bet that this is your problem. This is really under-diagnosed. Google it and check it out! Good luck!
