It depends on how recently you had the tooth pulled. You should always avoid getting food near the extraction site for the first day or so. If it has already been days since you had the tooth pulled and it is still not healing, you should call your dentist.
When a tooth is pulled, a blood clot forms...if that blood clot becomes dislodged, you could end up with a dry socket which is very painful!

Yes, it's normal. It will take a month or two for the gum to completely close over the wound. In the meantime, watch out for signs of developing a dry socket (extremely painful) which can occur from sucking action from smoking, sneezing, coughing, spitting or sucking within the first 24 hours following extraction. Moreover, keep it clean.

Yup. But it usually closes within 24 hours.
Be sure no food rests are left behind when that happens or you will have unexplainable bad breath, and even get an infection from the rotting food.

Go back to yur dentist - because you don't want that hole to close up with the rotted food still in it and get all infected

Normally, they put in stitches where the tooth was, so NO, it's not normal to have a deep hole there.
